Making more of Machine Control 🤖 Machine control technology is boosting contractors' chances of winning big tenders thanks to its positive impact on #sustainability and productivity. But many contractors feel that adoption of the technology is not being encouraged enough by senior decision-makers and legislators. Despite this potential lack of buy-in, automation is in high demand. While supportive legislation may still be in the works, bodies such as Highways England have already mandated the use of #MachineControl on all earthwork projects. Its use, mandated or not, is only going to continue to grow. Digging up the facts🖥️ In our report, The Future of Machine Control, we explored the appetite for machine control in tender applications. Those surveyed overwhelmingly agreed (72%) that the inclusion of machine control has been a deciding factor in recent tender applications. Historically, machine control use has aligned with larger-scale projects, but for businesses of all sizes in a saturated market, machine control can be a game changer. For example, when we look at companies with between 10 and 99 employees, the proportion of respondents who agree that machine control is a deciding factor in winning contracts increases to 87%. Building a support system🏗️ Machine control has clear benefits, but accessing and investing in the technology can be a barrier. To help contractors utilize the latest technology, legislators must pave the way forward with incentives that help to create standard, consistent use. The more collaboration between contractors, equipment manufacturers and governing bodies, the smoother the way forward can be. There is clearly an appetite for machine control from both sides of the tender process, but more work must be done to make the technology accessible to all.
