Cancer patients being treated with chemotherapy usually suffer with nausea and vomiting. The presence and intensity of these effects depend on the type of treatment, on whether a radiotherapy treatment is being performed simultaneously, and on the biological factors of the patient. Young women suffering with anxiety and having previous experiences of nausea and vomiting are more vulnerable. In most cases, these side effects can be controlled with preventive medications and other measures. However, sometimes traditional antiemetic drugs are not effective, and alternatives have been investigated. Medical cannabis products have been approved for treatment of chemotherapy-induced nausea and vomiting.
