Our take on the Shopify and Oracle Unity CDP partnership.
Shopify announced a new partnership with Oracle last week. Here's why it's important. The partnership is specifically with Oracle's Unity Customer Data Platform (CDP). Shopify recognizes how important a well-functioning CDP is for the enterprise. I think that's the most relevant part to take from this release. The CDP market is expected to triple between now and 2028 (https://lnkd.in/eKWXYzBk). I'm glad to see Shopify take this route. A strong data practice is necessary to activate a CDP. We talked about this with our CDP partner, RudderStack, recently: Why Shopify will increasingly require data engineering expertise. https://lnkd.in/eKYst4xe CDP's are needed to create audiences and segments, aggregate first-party customer data and activate this data across the many points in the buyer journey. The partnership does open up Shopify to work with Oracle customers using the Fusion Cloud CX Suite. This includes products like Responsys Campaign Management. In my world, that's not a benefit as it's legacy tech and hardly competitive with Klaviyo and Iterable. CDP use is growing significantly.
