About us
The Public Interest Network runs organizations committed to our vision of a better world, a set of core values, and a strategic approach to getting things done. The 16-plus groups in The Public Interest Network each strive for solutions on their own, while the force of our combined strategies builds pressure for change across the political and economic spectrum. Mission: We work on issues that speak to the need for a new kind of politics. Our campaigns challenge decision-makers to stop tolerating problems that are increasingly absurd in an age of advancing technology and growing abundance. We've won hundreds of victories at the local, state, national and corporate levels, and because of these laws and policies, people are buying healthier and safer products, getting more of our energy from the sun and the wind, drinking cleaner water and breathing cleaner air.

The Public Interest Network reposted this
New report: We don’t need deep-sea mining 🐠 Deep-sea mining risks damaging vibrant ecosystems that science is just beginning to understand. And we don’t need it to meet the critical minerals challenge. In fact, the world currently trashes more of some critical minerals in discarded electronic waste each year than would likely be supplied annually by a proposed ramp-up of deep-sea mining in the central Pacific over the next decade. This report comes as diplomats prepare to travel to Jamaica in July, where the International Seabed Authority will debate a proposal to put a moratorium on mining – or pave the way for the first commercial exploitation of the deep sea for minerals ever undertaken. Why wreak havoc on a remote ecosystem, all to mine these materials and then put them in throwaway devices such as unfixable cell phones or disposable vapes? The solution is obvious. Make long-lasting products, fix them when they break and recycle them when you can’t. #RightToRepair https://lnkd.in/eXkTSMHh

The Washington Post took the PIRG and Environment America report "Return, Refill, Reimagine" and, well, reimagined it. Allyson Chiu visited Trace--The Zero Waste Store in Vienna, Va., to see how a refillable store works & how it minimizes the use of #plastic packaging. https://lnkd.in/eqe8tgX9
Perspective | I shopped at a refill store for the first time. Here’s what it was like.
