Perhaps no state in America has benefited more from the Inflation Reduction Act than Wisconsin. The Inflation Reduction Act was created by President Biden in 2022 to help Americans – primarily working class Americans – recover from the COVID-19 pandemic, by lowering drug costs and reforming corporate taxes to ensure the top 1% pay their fair share. It’s also the most significant action ever undertaken by the federal government to address climate change. In Wisconsin, over 30,000 people are now saving over hundreds of dollars every year thanks to the $35 monthly insulin cap and assistance for low-income Wisconsinites with Affordable Care Act healthcare plans. And women in Wisconsin, who experience vastly higher rates of poverty than men, have benefited from the bill’s free vaccine program, a cap on out-of-pocket drug costs, and Medicare negotiations to lower the costs of life-saving prescriptions. On the clean energy front, the Inflation Reduction Act has created 71,000 good-paying jobs in the green energy sector in Wisconsin, putting the state on track to transition to 100% clean energy by 2050 while adding $21 billion to its economy. Thanks to the comprehensive rebates offered by the Inflation Reduction Act, Wisconsin drivers are getting $7,500 discounts when purchasing new EVs, low income households are receiving free or half-priced new appliances, and small business owners are saving thousands of dollars by updating commercial buildings to be more energy efficient. With the Inflation Reduction Act, President Biden has laid the groundwork for an economically equitable future that overwhelmingly benefits America’s working class.

When the pandemic shuttered doors and slashed the tourism industry, Nevada seriously struggled. That is, until President Biden passed the American Rescue Plan, saving the state from economic collapse. As one of his earliest acts as president, Joe Biden signed the American Rescue Plan Act into law in an effort to help communities across the country recover from COVID-19. With ARPA, the president brought relief to millions of Americans with direct personal checks, expanded unemployment insurance, and support for small businesses. In total, he spent $1.9 trillion to ensure that Americans could provide for their families in spite of the pandemic. Using funds from ARPA, Nevada established the State Small Business Tax Credit to help businesses with employment and operating costs. With this money, the state saw a record number of small businesses open and employment fell nearly 4 percent within the first year of the American Rescue Plan Act. To keep students connected, the Biden Administration provided the state with funds to connect 40,000 Nevada homes to high speed internet and supply students with electronic devices like laptops and tablets. And beyond the K-12 level, the Biden Administration provided 80,000 college students with direct financial assistance to keep them enrolled in their degree programs. The president also worked with state, local, and nonprofit partners to keep Nevadans in their homes. With funding from the American Rescue Plan Act, Nevada helped thousands of struggling renters with ongoing rent and utility payments as well as past expenses. And the state has used funding to construct new affordable housing units for Nevadans. Thanks to the American Rescue Plan Act, Nevadans haven’t just recovered from the pandemic but have been able to thrive despite ongoing impacts across the globe.

The CHIPS Act is revolutionizing #Arizona. Back in 2022, President Biden created the CHIPS and Science Act, allocating $52.7 billion towards the research, development, and manufacturing of semiconductors or microchips, with nearly half of that investment heading to the Copper state, essentially making Arizona the center of America’s microchip future. Over the past two years, he’s invested $15.1 billion in direct funds and an additional $11 billion in loans to collaborations with corporations like Intel and TSMC. He’s also given millions to smaller manufacturers to generate revenue for the local tech economy. So far, the CHIPS Act has created 35,000 new jobs in manufacturing and construction in Arizona. And many of these jobs don’t even require a college degree or significant work experience – workers can learn the necessary job skills in as little as two weeks. And President Biden has been putting an emphasis on giving these jobs to women, people of color, and low-income Arizonans, who have been underrepresented in the workforce. He’s also set up high school apprenticeship programs to introduce young people to these opportunities early on. Arizona has become a center for international economic competition, with good-paying jobs for tens of thousands of residents.

On this second anniversary of the Dobbs v. Jackson decision, we remain angry and deeply frustrated at Roe's overturning. But we are determined to remain hopeful, thanks to the leaders fighting in communities across the country to preserve, protect, and expand American freedom. To protect reproductive freedom, we must elect the right people to federal, state, and local offices. Today, NewDEAL is also releasing a guide for effectively communicating about abortion and framing the choices voters face this fall: https://lnkd.in/e9-CXFeF NewDEAL CEO Debbie Cox Bultan has also released an op-ed with COURIER, sharing the efforts of legislators in Democratic-controlled states to mitigate the impact of abortion bans and reinforce access to abortion care 📰 https://lnkd.in/eAsBNTQJ
