  • A misleading headline. With a total investment of approximately $600M on the site to date, the redevelopment of Suffolk Downs is certainly not “on hold indefinitely”. However, this article does a good job in highlighting a key issue being felt across our industry: high interest rates and costs of labor and materials are making housing projects across the state incredibly difficult to finance. While HYM continues to work on key infrastructure and commercial pieces across the 161-acre site at Suffolk Downs, we look forward to working on creative and collaborative solutions with the State and our partners to break ground on the next units of much needed housing.

  • Boston Business Journal’s “10 real estate projects to watch in Boston in 2024” include two of our own! Beginning in Revere, Suffolk Downs will be delivering its first, 100% all-electric, residential building, Amaya, this summer in partnership with National Real Estate Advisors. Amaya’s 475 units will be the first of the expected 10,000 residential units within the mixed-use development. • Yesterday, HYM was honored to host Governor Maura Healey, Lieutenant Governor Kim Driscoll, Economic Development Secretary Yvonne Hao and Housing & Livable Communities Secretary Ed Augustus on site at Suffolk Downs as they announced $164 Million in funding for economic development projects across the state through Community One Stop for Growth. This announcement delivers funding from 13 state grant programs that will help create 8,000 new housing units, 10,000 jobs, and 5.4 Million SF of commercial development across Massachusetts. Along with elected officials and the labor community, we were honored to be joined by Revere Mayor Patrick Keefe as Revere was a recipient of a MassWorks award for the redevelopment of Suffolk Downs, as well as a Housing Choice program grant. These investments will help not only Revere, but cities and towns across the state, unlock projects that will make a difference in the lives of its residents. • The HYM Investment Group is proud that our Managing Partner and CEO Thomas O'Brien was asked to speak at Office of Massachusetts Governor Maura Healey and Lt. Governor Kim Driscoll's $4.1 Billion Bond Bill Announcement today. The importance of this historic investment in solving the Commonwealth's housing crisis cannot be overstated. We were honored to be there alongside so many housing advocates, policy leaders, business organizations and developers who are working together to get the Affordable Homes Act passed by the Legislature.

  • Last week we celebrated the grand opening of Boston’s newest trophy office tower, One Congress. Standing six-hundred-feet tall, One Congress is the largest new office delivery in Boston this year and the city's first LEED-Platinum-certified office tower over one million square feet. Alongside our partners at Carr and National Real Estate Advisors, we would like to extend our gratitude and congratulations to the design teams of Pelli Clarke & Partners and CBT Architects, the team at John Moriarty & Associates, and the many women and men who built this building and made this monumental achievement possible.
