The Global Fund for a New Economy is now going live with the recruitment of four senior members of its inaugural team, as well as a critical supporting role. We hope you may be able to help us by sharing this through your networks, or by supporting us directly with the search for candidates - either by encouraging potentially strong candidates to apply, or by making recommendations directly to Jago Channell (jago@jagochannell.com), a London-based executive search consultant, who is leading the search and appointment process for each of these roles.
The Global Fund for a New Economy’s purpose is to galvanize and empower organizations, individuals, policy-makers, academics, and activists globally who are working to bring about a more just, sustainable economy. Its ambition is to realize a fundamental step-change in the pace, momentum, and impact of those working in this globally dispersed ecosystem.
The organization aims to help build an infrastructure for impact - policies, narratives, and a new generation of policymakers and citizens - which can challenge the failed doctrines of orthodox neoliberal economic thought that have widened socio-economic disparities, undermined democracies, and exacerbated the climate crisis. We hope to be able to update you with more information on the Fund, its strategy, and approach in the summer.
Specifically, the roles we seek to fill are:
- VP Operations, People & Finance (https://bit.ly/496cSuW), to lead the establishment and development of central functions, supporting the organization’s operational set-up, and establishing its approach and culture;
- Chief Economist (https://bit.ly/4akiGSB) to develop and lead its overall policy strategy and positioning;
- Director of Industrial Strategy (https://bit.ly/3wVmmf8) who will be responsible for co-developing and executing a multi-layered, global strategy on industrial policy and economic development;
- Director of Strategic Communications (https://bit.ly/4amZYdh) whose role will be to establish and work with a range of globally dispersed communications hubs to strengthen and boost the impact of the communications and media relations infrastructure supporting the New Economy movement.
- We also look to hire an Executive Assistant (https://bit.ly/3IIGgwB), to provide administrative support to the Co-Presidents.
All positions at the Fund will be remote, and there is a strong preference for candidates with deep experience of working in and with the Global South, particularly in priority countries such as: Brazil, India, Colombia, South Africa, Kenya, South Africa, and also Germany, the UK, the US. We seek to build a diverse team with complementary strengths, backgrounds, and perspectives.
These open roles are now live in the market, with closing dates of 10 May 2024. We have linked to the job descriptions for each. We appreciate your assistance as we seek to identify and attract the best possible candidates.
