“When you bless a child, you bless the future, you bless generations,” says Camille N. Johnson, General President of the Relief Society of the @churchofjesuschrist. “It’s through collaborations with these kinds of organizations [like USA for UNHCR] that we can do the most good.” The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is giving $6 million to UNHCR, the UN Refugee Agency, to help nearly 85,000 refugees in Chad, Ethiopia, and South Sudan who have fled from recent violence in Sudan. “This contribution means a lot. It means that we are able to service and be present in some of the most critical emergencies around the world,” says Suzanne Ehlers, Executive Director and CEO of USA for UNHCR. About us
"This work is so liberating: to be employed in an organization wherein we have the ultimate freedom to use true principles of the restored gospel of Jesus Christ in our work each day. Having access to all truth and applying it in our daily performance is the most liberating thing I know. This truly is the work of the kingdom of God." —Elder David A. Bednar of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles Church employees find joy and satisfaction in using their unique talents and abilities to further the Lord’s work. From the IT professional who develops an app that sends the gospel message worldwide -- to the facilities manager who maintains our buildings, giving Church members places to worship, teach, learn, and receive sacred ordinances, our employees seek innovative ways to share the gospel of Jesus Christ with the world. They are literally working in the Kingdom. Find your fit within Church employment here: https://www.churchofjesuschrist.org/church/employment

Natural disasters, civil unrest, war, emergencies, and famine—all of these devastating circumstances impact individuals across the globe. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints aims to help people prepare for and overcome such situations. This includes efforts like emergency preparedness and psychological first aid. At its core, the Church’s emergency relief effort aims to help the one. Individuals who receive aid can better support their families and communities. Then, as communities receive temporal and emotional relief from the Church, they can overcome crises, rise above disasters, and build anew. The Church also often works with local governments to address the needs of citizens during emergencies and other crises. We are currently working on many emergency response efforts around the world. Some of the world’s greatest leaders came from humble beginnings. However, they did not let their circumstances define their success. Through hard work, observation, trial and error, and determination, they developed skills that made them great leaders. Booker T. Washington and Frederick Douglass both rose out of slavery to become successful businessmen and two of the most influential thinkers of the nineteenth century. Their ideologies helped shape the modern world and the Civil Rights Movement. Mohed Altrad was born an orphan into a nomadic Bedouin tribe in the Syrian Desert. He eventually made his way to France, where he earned a PhD in computer science. Today he owns a successful business worth over a billion dollars. Angela Merkel was raised in East Germany and watched the Berlin Wall come down. She worked as a scientist before moving into politics and serving as the Chancellor of Germany. Many other successful businesspeople grew up poor and without much opportunity, and yet they pushed their way through adversity. At The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, we prioritize looking for leaders from every kind of background. We have hundreds of job openings—check them out here: https://lnkd.in/gna_mqjY #leadership #leadershipdevelopment #businessleader

“After a 29-year career with the FBI, I wasn’t thinking of working for the Church Security Department (CSD) as a second career. “I had dragged my wife and four children around the world on different assignments as well as spending many days and nights away from home, and I felt it was time to settle down in Arizona, where my wife and I are originally from. “However, after some recruitment by Church Security Department managers and directors whom I knew and trusted, coupled with hours of fasting and prayer, I knew that working with CSD was going to be my next phase of life. “I have found the Church Security Department to be a highly professional security organization with skilled and dedicated officers and managers. I have often said that I could match CSD up against most law enforcement agencies I worked with in my prior career in terms of capability and professionalism. “To be a part of an organization whose goal is to provide a peaceful and secure environment in which the mission of the Church may be accomplished has been very rewarding. “I never thought anything could equal the satisfaction and camaraderie I experienced in the FBI. However, my time in CSD has done just that. … “I am married … and we have four children and six grandchildren. Our family is the joy of our lives, and we love spending time with them. We enjoy the outdoors, good music, literature and art, tasty food, and all things centered on our Savior Jesus Christ and His restored gospel.” -Kenneth Porter Director of Training and Investigations Division at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints You may not consider your skills applicable to working with the Church. Distressing challenges and losses typically impact us physically, emotionally, socially, mentally, and spiritually. President Russell M. Nelson said: “I urge you to take steps to be temporally prepared. But I am even more concerned about your spiritual and emotional preparation” (“Embrace the Future with Faith,” general conference, Oct. 2020). Building your emotional resilience is one way to prepare for the challenges you will face in life.
