We're thankful to Governor Gavin Newsom for standing strong on Prop. 35. To ensure health equity for our children, #CA must fund #MediCal #ContinuousCoverage. The current budget supports #MYCE, but the ballot question could cut this crucial funding & jeopardize kids' coverage. #KeepKidsCovered

California's state budget is final. For children's health, here are the key wins & disappointments for children's health: - Funding to implement multi-year continuous Medi-Cal eligibility for young children (effective January 1, 2026) - A rate increase for community health workers, promotores and representatives. - Preservation of funding for the expansion of Medi-Cal health care coverage to all income-eligible Californians, regardless of immigration status and including In-Home Supportive Services. - Maintenance of funding for health enrollment navigators at clinics. - $250 million for the Middle Mile Broadband Initiative for digital equity. 💥Assemblymember Tasha Boerner Horvath & Latino Coalition for a Healthy California hosted a POWERFUL press conference this week alongside partners. So proud to be there to fight to protect children's Medi-Cal coverage, and the progress we've made for ALL Californians! We stood alongside allies Western Center On Law & Poverty & AltaMed Health Services. We are committed to making sure California’s children, elders, disabled & communities of color are able to access the MediCal health coverage and services they deserve and rely on. Parents deserve peace of mind. Californians deserve health equity. We alll deserve health care with no gaps in care. Here are ➡️3 ways the California Governor & Legislature can protect children’s health coverage now: 1️⃣Fund Multi-Year Continuous MediCal Coverage for kids 0-5 in the #CABudget 2️⃣Give navigator assistance for Californians trying to re-enroll 3️⃣Extend federal renewal flexibilities that already are making our renewals system better. Speakers, in order of appearance: Dr. Seciah Aquino, Latino Coalition for a Healthy California Whitney Francis, MPH, MCP, Western Center on Law & Poverty Mayra E Alvarez, The Children’s Partnership Asm. Tasha Boerner Horvath Berenice Núñez Constant, MPH, AltaMed Health Services #CABudget #KeepKidsCovered

Community health workers offer anti-racist, community based solutions for #HealthCare. Our latest brief in partnership with the First 5 Center for Children's Policy provides an update on Medi-Cal’s community health worker (CHW) benefit implementation, as well as uplifts programs and models across California that are utilizing CHWs, promotores and representatives to benefit children and families across the state. Thank you Liza Davis Polomski, Ebony Durham, M.A., Eva Rivera & other talented staff who brought this together!

This Asian American, Native Hawaiian and Pacific Islander Heritage Month, we honor the leadership of AANHPI women in California. Linda Asato works to inspire, inform and advocate for a quality child care system that supports all families in California as executive director of the California Child Care Resource & Referral Network. She has over 20 years of diverse experience that spans community organizing, public administration, nonprofit management and organizational development. Child care that nourishes children—and that families can rely on—helps create children’s health equity in California. Thank you for your leadership, Linda! We are grateful for the work you are doing on behalf of children’s health and well-being in our state. In the image, Linda Asato smiles at the viewer, surrounded by a bright blue background. #aanhpi #AANHPIHeritageMonth #KidsHealth #ChildCare #California #WomenWhoLead
