A device to efficiently generate frequency-bin entangled #photon pairs in a spiral-shaped microresonator was demonstrated by research from C2N - Centre de Nanosciences et de Nanotechnologies, Télécom Paris, and STMicroelectronics. Published in #AdvancedPhotonics, the work shows that broadband frequency-entangled state generation is suitable for weaving a #quantum network. Demultiplexing these frequency qubits enables secure quantum information distribution in a 5-user trusted-node-free quantum network, which is unprecedented with frequency-encoded qubits! Welcome back to #WiOWednesday! This week, we are featuring Clara Saraceno, a professor at Ruhr-Universität Bochum. Early in her studies, Clara was inspired by #optics and lasers. She appreciated the simplicity in identifying links between theory and experiments, which pushed her to further her studies in France at the Institut d’Optique. Today, she leads a research group shaping the future of electrical engineering and #photonics! Her role includes guiding diverse career-level scientists from student assistants to senior researchers, securing research funding, and influencing the academic community through various decision-making bodies and panels for research. Clara considers the most cherished accomplishment in her career to be mentoring her first PhD student, who has since excelled in the industry. Her biggest challenge? Balancing family and work in a healthy manner. She believes academia must undergo several changes to make achieving this balance easier for women. We are pleased to share Clara's story in the #SPIE #WomenInOptics 2024 notebook! Read more here: https://lnkd.in/g2HseKKi
