We do not define individuals by their disabilities. Using evidence-based approaches, we push the boundaries of traditional programs and services, helping each person we serve to discover unique talents, develop self-worth, and maximize opportunities for independence, self-direction, citizenship, and community integration

June 23rd marked the 25th anniversary of the landmark decision interpreting the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) which enabled many thousands of people with disabilities to live in their homes and communities instead of in institutions, and to have greater independence, autonomy, and opportunities to participate fully in their communities. Thank you to all who are committed to supporting individuals with disabilities.
Today marks the 25th anniversary of the U.S. Supreme Court’s seminal decision in Olmstead v. L.C., which recognized that Title II of the Americans with Disabilities Act and Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act protect the right of people with disabilities to receive services in the most integrated setting appropriate to their needs. This important ruling made the unjustified institutionalization of people with disabilities illegal discrimination, and has positively impacted the lives of hundreds of thousands of individuals. Today, we recognize and celebrate our members’ ongoing commitment to ensuring that individuals with disabilities are full and equal members of their communities. We are so proud of National Association of Private Special Education Centers members for their advocacy efforts during the annual Legislative Day in Washington, DC.
This week, National Association of Private Special Education Centers (NAPSEC) held its annual Legislative Day in Washington, D.C. Members actively engaged with lawmakers, advocating for critical legislation. NAPSEC President and Spectrum360 CEO Ken Berger played a key role, participating in meetings with representatives from the offices of Congresswoman Mikie Sherrill and Senator Cory Booker. Discussions focused on securing support for important bills, including the Autism Care Act and the Recognizing the Role of Direct Support Professionals Act. It was great to see so many NAPSEC members on Capitol Hill.
