At Smithbucklin, we are incredibly proud to see how our Values are making a meaningful impact on our employees' growth and development. Thank you for sharing your journey with us, Madeline Stanke! We are also thrilled to hear about your enriching experience, diving deep into leadership insights with Matt Sanderson! Thank you for sharing this inspiring reflection. Let's continue to learn from each other as we strive for excellence together. #EmployeeSuccess #CompanyValues #Expertise #Leadership
When I joined Smithbucklin, I was eager to learn and grow as a driven young professional who had just finished reading “So Good They Can’t Ignore You” by Cal Newport. I was determined to broaden my skill set and hoped that I might find a deep passion for my work as I continually learned. Six years later, I can say with certainty that I have done just that. Smithbucklin launched its new values on June 4, one of which is “Expertise.” This truly embodies the company’s culture as it creates an environment for its employees to continuously learn and grow. Over the course of my six years here, not only has Smithbucklin provided me with many opportunities to develop as a leader, increase my financial acumen, and work on complex problems across teams—I have also established deep relationships with my healthcare clients to develop, guide and implement the initiatives in their strategic plans. Following the guidance in Newport’s book, as I spent time participating in internal and external trainings, taking advantage of LinkedIn Learning courses, and actively learning from my colleagues, my passion and excitement for my work flourished. I also felt the positive impact I had on my clients and team members. In addition, I have received immense support and mentorship from my supervisors who have invested countless time, patience, and effort to help me grow professionally. I am a big proponent of paying it forward, which is why I have dedicated a lot of my own time to equipping my fellow team members with the confidence and resources to succeed. Last year, I spent time reflecting on the type of leader that I want to become, and the skills and experiences required for me to advance to the place in which I envision myself in five years. To reach the next step in my professional journey, I made the decision to pursue an MBA at The University of Chicago Booth School of Business. During my first quarter, I had the opportunity to interview Matt Sanderson, President & CEO of Smithbucklin and an alum of Chicago Booth, as part of an assignment in Professor Emma Levine’s course “Power & Influence in Organizations.” During the interview, Matt shared several valuable insights about his path to leadership and the crucible moments that have defined him in his career. I hope this interview clip prompts you to think about how the crucible moments in your own life can help you define your path. I am excited to continue my MBA journey at Chicago Booth by continuing to learn from my peers and professors and by serving as co-chair of the Chicago Booth Partners Club. Working full-time while completing a rigorous MBA program is challenging but I know that I have the support of my colleagues who are actively cheering me on along the way. #BoothProud #ChicagoBooth #BoothMBA #Smithbucklin #Expertise

👏Incredible news! We support our exceptional clients who are making a significant impact in their industry and look forward to our valuable partnerships.
Last night was my final AGM as IABC Secretary/Treasurer. In my presentation to members last night I spoke about the four year journey the Association’s been on to recover from extremely challenging years that were exacerbated by the pandemic. This year has seen the association return to growth achieving our highest revenue in 10 years, net positive assets and the auditors have removed the ‘going concern’ (Yay!) We’ve also implemented changes to bylaws to shift the composition of the International Finance Committee to include all Regional Board Treasurers and developed next steps for a simplified financial model It's been a tough few years and while I get to share the good news as Treasurer it’s taken a huge team effort to get to where we are. Huge thanks to my Chair Maliha Aqeel PMP, SCMP, MC.and the IEB for your support. Thanks also to Peter Finn Marlee Honcoop and the Smithbucklin team for your hardwork and support. As I said last night I could not have managed the past two years without your help. Thanks also to the Finance Committee and Organisational Design Taskforce members for volunteering so many late nights and early mornings. Finally good luck to Ed Kamrin as he takes over the Treasurer Baton. Now to enjoy the IABC World Conference in this beautiful city of Chicago.

360 Live Media's Tara Burgess shares her insight on women in leadership. As part of their series exploring female advancement in leadership and management, Medium interviewed Tara. 👇Read more about her inspirations and influences, barriers to women’s advancement, and strategies to help other women stay engaged and succeed:
I recently had the privilege of discussing strategies to enhance women’s participation in leadership and management during an interview with Vanessa Ogle. Reflecting on this experience was not just a professional journey but also a personal one, as it reminded me of the remarkable individuals who have shaped my path. I am deeply grateful to Johnnie Dobbs (aka Dad), Stephanie Copeland Weber, Heather Hock, and Jack Macleod for their guidance and support. Their influence, alongside countless others like Beth Surmont, FASAE, CMP-Fellow, CAE and Bill Zimmer, has been instrumental in shaping who I am today. Thank you to all who have played a part in my journey toward leadership and empowerment. As well as a big shout out to 360 Live Media and Smithbucklin for providing me with the opportunity to grow and thrive in my career while also “unlocking the power of human networks that move every industry, field, and profession forward.” #Gratitude #LeadershipDevelopment #Empowerment
