    Every year, we give our employees a week off around July 4th. Why? Because we take work/life balance seriously and want our people to intentionally recharge so they can continue to serve our customers with creativity, energy and enthusiasm. The sad truth is that almost half (46%) of U.S workers don’t use all of their paid time off. A company week off allows our people to fully switch off, knowing they won’t get emails or internal requests while out of office. It builds downtime into our culture, making it ok to step away from our desks and into adventure.     This week, millions of soccer and football fans will be glued to their TVs, performing every pre-game ritual imaginable, to see the results of their teams’ hard work and practice. For many aspiring soccer players, getting to the Euros or Copa América is a childhood dream – one that has taken hours of hands-on practice to achieve. Most professional soccer players spend at least 15 hours a week completing a variety of training modalities - agility drills and on-field training, watching game film, cross-training in the gym, and even having recovery sessions. They apply their knowledge, demonstrate their skills, and adjust where needed over and over again. Sound familiar? The best sports coaches understand that knowledge of the game (theory) can only get their players so far. It’s the real-world practice, regular feedback, and refinement that gets their teams ready for the pressures of elite competition. It’s clearly working for Mbappé and Messi - why not for your business-critical projects and capabilities? Hands-on training can be the secret to getting your employees, customers and partners ready for their moment in the limelight. Gartner has done a helpful round-up of expert advice for reducing cyber-risk in your organization. ✔️Of course, tailored, regular skill development was on the list.
