In a time when we are facing a loneliness epidemic, building and maintaining healthy relationships is more important than ever for our mental and emotional well-being. Here are some great ways to connect and foster strong bonds: 🤝 Spend quality time with family & friends. Quality is often more important than quantity when it comes to relationships. 🎉 Attend events. In-person and virtual events can be valuable ways to meet and interact with new people. 🤲 Volunteer. Volunteering your free time for a cause you care about can help you meet like-minded individuals dedicated to similar causes. 👥 Join a group or club. Book clubs, bird-watching groups, recreational sports teams, and other community meetups can be helpful ways to meet like-minded people who have similar interests. 🎨 Take up a new hobby. Learning a new skill or hobby can connect you with a new community. 💬 Find common interests. One foundational aspect of friendship is having common interests and experiences. 👂 Listen actively. Active listening can be a foundational element of strong communication skills. 🤝 Trust & respect each other. By trusting and respecting one another, you can tell others about your thoughts, feelings, and life experiences without fear of judgment. 🛑 Set boundaries. By establishing and maintaining clear and healthy boundaries, you can avoid future relationship challenges. 💚 Take care of yourself. Prioritizing your mental health, practicing self-care, and improving your self-esteem are important steps in learning to build healthy relationships. Today marks the official start of the 2024-2025 school year and the first day for our new superintendent, Dr. Michael Schumacher. Our theme this year is ALL IN. Being ALL IN means being willing to face challenges head-on and work together to overcome them, and it means working tirelessly to ensure that each student and staff member feels a sense of belonging. We are excited for the year ahead and to see our community join us as #OneShawneeMission. #ALLINSMSD https://lnkd.in/gsED7SEp
