Tiffany Carter, program director of ServiceNet’s Skillbuilders Makerspace+, has been recognized as one of 34 Massachusetts awardees for the Foster Parent of the Year award by the Massachusetts Department of Children and Families (DCF). Carter began her foster parenting journey in 2018 by fostering a relative. Since then, Carter has welcomed six different children into her home, and was honored at a special brunch in Framingham on June 2. Reflecting on the event, she remarked, “I was surprised and deeply honored. It was wonderful to feel the love and appreciation in the room for what we do every day.” Read more: https://lnkd.in/ezsFdjxq

ServiceNet's DEI Coordinator and Community Relations team members had a wonderful experience at the Juneteenth event in Greenfield yesterday. Special thanks to the organizers, performers, speakers, and vendors for their incredible contributions, especially considering the challenging heat conditions. And thank you to everyone who came out and visited our table. Celebrating freedom and community together made it a memorable day!

ServiceNet recently took part in the Massachusetts Rehabilitation Commission (MRC) Waiver Unit’s Regional Providers Fair in Worcester, emphasizing the significance of connections and collaboration in supporting individuals with disabilities. At the event, ServiceNet’s Developmental and Brain Injury Services (DBIS) division staff engaged with Waiver Unit case managers, DDS service coordinators, and other stakeholders. The MRC Waiver Unit administers a variety of home and community-based waiver programs that support individuals with disabilities. These programs are crucial for helping individuals transition from institutional settings, such as hospitals or nursing homes, to community living environments. Services provided under these waivers include assistance with daily living activities, access to assistive technology, and other community support systems to promote independent living. Jennifer Wood, a director of operations in the DBIS division who attended the event, emphasized the importance of the fair, stating, “Participating in the MRC Waiver Unit’s Regional Providers Fair allowed us to strengthen connections with fellow providers and deepen our knowledge of available resources. These programs are instrumental in empowering individuals to lead more independent and dignified lives.”

ServiceNet is proud to be a new community partner of the Work Without Limits network, an initiative of the consulting and operations division of UMass Chan Medical School. The network offers a variety of programs and services to help meet the needs of employers that actively recruit people with disabilities, people with disabilities who are looking for jobs, and service providers. ServiceNet also provides vocational training opportunities to help prepare individuals with disabilities for successful employment. “Being part of this network gives us a great opportunity to expand our connections with business partners where people could be employed,” said Clint Read, a Senior Employment Specialist with ServiceNet. “Work Without Limits also hosts quite a few training opportunities, which could benefit both us and our job seekers.”

We extend our sincere gratitude to the non-profit Shaping Soles for their generous donation of 30 pairs of athletic shoes to our new wellness program. Their support will significantly benefit our participants, aiding them in their journey towards a healthier and happier future. ServiceNet’s new wellness program, for adults receiving services through the agency’s outpatient clinic in Northampton, provides personal coaching and individually designed wellness plans. The program’s goal is to help participants identify small adjustments they can make in their lifestyle to feel more balanced and healthier.

In honor of National Nurses Week, May 6 –12, we want to thank the dedicated nursing staff who serve across all of ServiceNet’s programs and play a pivotal role in positively impacting the lives of the people we serve. As we reflect on the many contributions of nurses on our team—from providing compassionate, professional care to educating program staff, and developing health and safety protocols that affect us all—we are grateful for their profound impact on our organization and the individuals we work with. Thank you to our remarkable nursing staff, who make a lasting difference in the lives of so many! 💜
