Last month, several members from the #SDSUAlumni board of advisors had the pleasure of traveling to Oaxaca. The group explored the culture, learned more about the region’s history, gained an understanding of the San Diego State University faculty and student research and projects with the local people and visited the SDSU Oaxaca Center for Mesoamerican Studies. It was an unforgettable experience. Thank you to Dr. Ramona Pérez, our fantastic guides and the communities and families who welcomed us and assisted with the trip. We can’t wait to return!

“It brings us closer together having this shared experience. I enjoy hearing about SDSU's past from my dad's stories and learning about its present through my sister's updates” Three generations, one alma mater. From Emmanuel ('92) to Teagan ('21, '23) and now Tallie ('24), the De Leon family represents what it means to be a true Aztec family. Born and raised in San Diego, it was a no-brainer that SDSU was the place for them. Now, they’re closer than ever before.
