This trial is crucial for understanding how different rolling techniques and cover crops influence weed suppression and the success of cash crops like sweet corn and hemp. Cover crops are planted to improve soil quality, protect against erosion, and prevent nutrient loss. They also help suppress weeds, control pests and diseases, improve water availability, and increase biodiversity on the farm. We believe that the frequency, open structure, and small-mid size of the group will be conducive to deep and meaningful conversations. Who should sign up? Prospective, transitioning, or certified organic grain farmers in Central NE, Southeast NE, Central KS, and Northeast KS What can participants expect? Organic agronomist Ben Lehman will facilitate the meetings.
