The Walk & Roll for SCI Foundation is extremely excited to introduce our new, and hopefully long-lasting, collaboration with the ReelAbilities annual festival 𝑝𝑟𝑜𝑚𝑜𝑡𝑖𝑛𝑔 𝑖𝑛𝑐𝑙𝑢𝑠𝑖𝑜𝑛 𝑓𝑜𝑟 𝑎𝑙𝑙 ‘𝑏𝑜𝑑𝑖𝑒𝑠’ across Houston and the nation! Jeffrey Feinstein and his wife, Alli, are co chairing this event for the next two years. "We are so honored to have a part in this amazing citywide festival, and so excited to have the Walk & Roll as a collaborating partner (furthermore, Riverbend Energy Group as a significant sponsor!)." ReelAbilities is an incredible, month-long event in its 11th year of production, promoting its mission through captivating movies, impactful speaker series, multiple art shows, intensive community events at our city’s high schools, as well as a corporate event highlighting disability in the workplace. A few favorites we hope to see you at:  𝐑𝐞𝐞𝐥𝐌𝐮𝐬𝐢𝐜 - Thursday, February 22: 7:30 PM – 9:00 PM - Location: White Oak Music Hall, 2915 N Main Street, Houston, TX 77009 - Celebrate music’s power to connect us, unite us, and lift us up at this event which showcases the talents of jazz, rock (and more!) musicians and performers who live with disabilities. We hope that those in attendance will encourage companies to access a pipeline of qualified individuals with disabilities and champion workplace inclusion. This event is 𝑊𝑒𝑑𝑛𝑒𝑠𝑑𝑎𝑦, 𝐹𝑒𝑏𝑟𝑢𝑎𝑟𝑦 28𝑡ℎ 𝑓𝑟𝑜𝑚 11:30 𝐴𝑀 𝑡𝑜 1:30 𝑃𝑀 𝑎𝑡 𝑈𝑛𝑖𝑡𝑒𝑑 𝑊𝑎𝑦 (50 Waugh Dr. Houston, TX 77007), with additional information you can find on the website. Riverbend's Energy Transition Fund is excited to announce the closing of our investment in Qube Technologies and the addition of great partners to the team!

View profile for Alex MacGregor, graphic

    CEO at Qube Technologies

This photo is from 3.5 years ago, prior to it being taken, I had convinced a couple of friends to quit their high paying and stable jobs to join a start-up. We had a great idea, we would continuously monitor for methane emissions and develop algorithms to triangulate where they were coming from and quantify by volume. This would allow our customers to find and fix leaks faster thereby reducing their emissions while keeping their valuable products in the pipe. One of our first courses of action, was to build a facility that would allow us to perform precise controlled releases of methane to better understand the performance of our sensors and allow us to continuously improve upon our then non-existent algorithms. We ran into a small problem during the first test of our first ‘commercial product’ – the sensor was unable to detect methane outdoors. Being engineers, we came up with a creative solution to the problem, we attached a hose to the release point and moved the release point closer and closer to sensor. When we got within about 6 inches, the device began registering methane readings.. Needless to say, we have had to overcome a few challenges the last few years both in starting a business and bringing a product to market but we have made a lot of progress. We eventually solved the sensor problem, built a great team and have had a lot of commercial success having deployed over 4000 Qube’s in 9 countries while helping our clients solve a big problem.  We have been incredibly fortunate to have great backing from our existing investors in Northwest Capital,  SCF Partners, Pine Brook Partners and NESR and for the continued support we have received from Sustainable Development Technology Canada - Technologies du Développement Durable Canada, Emissions Reduction Alberta (ERA) and Alberta Innovates. We are incredibly excited to have closed our Series B (https://lnkd.in/gRVWeKhh) and add new investors to our cap table in Riverbend Energy Group , TC Energy, NGIF Capital and Future Back Ventures by Bain & Company. We look forward to the next chapter of growth and problems/learning opportunities.
