3 homes in the U.S. were obliterated last year from a result of underground utility strikes. All 3 were gas explosions. Two cats died in these explosions, but by some miracle no people were killed. From good communication to learning from our mistakes. We as an industry do many things to make it safe. At the same time though it feels like we've hit a wall when it comes to making it even safer. Is this the best it will ever get with the system we have? What data do we have to go off of to support this? Can we push through and reduce damages to zero? Adam Yunker brings up something he doesn't think is talked about enough. He recounts how he's seen contractors often feeling pressured to pick up the bill on a damage, when it isn't their fault, just so the utility company can stay in good standing with the city and/or the owner of the damaged line. chris work and Steve Johnston give some great insight to help pull back the curtain on this matter.
