Pittsburgh Pirates

This morning, Pirates Charities hosted a Miracle League Fantasy Camp for over 45 athletes from the ML of Moon Township! Each athlete received a custom Pirates City Connect jersey before enjoying the clinic-styled event, which took place on an adaptive playing surface to ensure athletes of all abilities could enjoy the event. Each athlete also had their name announced during the opening ceremonies, heard a special address from Pirates Chairman Bob Nutting, and enjoyed four stations with Pirates players and coaching staff.

Our front office is ready for Yinzerpalooza! 🥟 🏆 Yinzerpalooza is a celebration of everything we love about Pittsburgh, including Zambelli Fireworks, Wiz Khalifa, and, of course, pierogies! Naturally we had to kick off the highly anticipated weekend with our annual Pierogy Eating Contest. William Whalen took home the champion title with 36 mini Mrs. T's Pierogies eaten! He also got a hat of his favorite pierogy, Oliver Onion, and gets to display the champion trophy on his desk. A big thanks to all our participants for making this event so much fun. Let’s Go Bucs!

We celebrated our upcoming Yinzerpalooza Weekend Presented by Mrs. T's Pierogies with our friends at Giant Eagle, Inc. by spreading some joy with our neighbors in West Mifflin, PA!    Jared Triolo, Nick Gonzales, and the Pirate Parrot handed out Giant Eagle gift cards, Pirates tickets, and fun Yinzer-themed items. Thank you, "Giant Iggle!"

As part of the 2024 Pirates Nike RBI Championships, 10 RBI teams from across five different divisions battled to be crowned this year’s RBI Champions in their respective age group. Throughout the day, intense baseball and softball action allowed kids to live out their dreams of playing on a Major League field. Friends and family from all over the city came out to PNC Park to enjoy a great day of baseball and softball at the best Ballpark in America.

This morning, our interns took a memorable trip to The Clemente Museum in Lawrenceville, diving deep into the life and legacy of "The Great One." We wanted our interns to experience firsthand Clemente's remarkable humanitarian efforts and the profound impact he had beyond the baseball field. We hope they left inspired by his dedication to making a difference.   Our interns have significantly impacted our organization this season, and we wish them continued success in their growth. Baseball fans, we highly recommend you visit the museum and be inspired, too!

The Pirates and Pirates Charities are proud to come together with 84 Lumber to support the Friends of the Pittsburgh Fisher House's mission to ease the burden of veterans and their families during their cost-free stay while their loved one receives care at the VA Pittsburgh. Earlier this month, Pirates front office staff and pitcher Daulton Jefferies worked alongside 84 Lumber staff volunteers at the Pittsburgh Fisher House. Volunteers spent the day landscaping and setting up new porch decor to help guests feel more at home during their visit. Volunteers then joined the house guests and staff for lunch, courtesy of Giant Eagle, Inc.

We had a blast hosting 100 Pirates Nike RBI Athletes yesterday morning at PNC Park for an on-field clinic through our Power Hitters Program, Powered by Duquesne Light Company!    Throughout the clinic, kids were able to participate in stations consisting of hitting, pitching, fielding, and even some dugout trivia with Pirates Third Base Coach, Mike Rabelo. Mitch Keller, Joshua Palacios, and Pirates manager Derek Shelton stopped by to help facilitate the stations and bring some excitement.   Each age group had the opportunity to compete for the fastest swing, thanks to Diamond Kinetics Bat Sensors, to win an autographed bat.
