We are thrilled to receive a generous $166,500 donation from the Kiwanis Club of St. Petersburg for our Take Stock in Children mentoring program. This contribution will sponsor 37 Pinellas County students, providing them with mentors, college success coaches, and 2-year Florida Prepaid Scholarships. Since its inception nearly 20 years ago, the Fischer-Carr Scholarship Fund has raised over $1.4 million to support Pinellas County students. One of the signers of the Declaration of Independence, Benjamin Franklin, founded the first public library in America and believed strongly in the power of education. This Independence Day, we celebrate our nation’s freedom and reflect on the importance of education to build a brighter community. We were honored when our CEO, Kim Jowell, was asked to participate. She highlighted the excellent work at Pinellas County Schools College and Career Centers, which are designed to prepare students for life after high school, improve FAFSA completion rates and help students achieve their highest potential. In partnership with Pinellas County Schools, we launched the Elevating Excellence program to provide high-achieving students and their families with a personalized path to college readiness. We are proud to support and develop initiatives that empower students to shape their futures.   PCS’ annual Elevating Excellence Summer Seminars are held across three high schools throughout the summer.
