Linking community resources to Nashville public schools to help young people achieve academic success & prepare for life
About us
PENCIL is the premier organization linking community resources to Metro Nashville Public Schools. Thanks to dedicated PENCIL Partners, students work in state-of-the-art laboratories alongside teachers and industry professionals. Teachers design lesson plans that cross the traditional boundaries of education - like linking data points in algebra with students' Agricultural Science classes. Dedicated volunteers regularly donate one lunch hour a week to help a child improve his or her reading comprehension. Businesses work to create an engaged and excited student pipeline interested in their industry through internships and job shadowing. PENCIL also operates free teacher resource centers where Metro Nashville Public School teachers can shop free once a quarter to help supplement their classrooms.

Later this month, PENCIL will celebrate five years of its Together 4 Teachers project, and in honor of this milestone we have some exciting news to share… The Together 4 Teachers Pep Rally has a new home! The Nashville Soccer Club will be generously hosting us at GEODIS Park, alongside our new Pep Rally Sponsors - Coca-Cola Consolidated and BODYARMOR Sports Nutrition. With generous support from the Nashville community, the Together 4 Teachers Pep Rally serves as the initial delivery site for in-demand school and teacher supplies before the start of the school year. It shows support for and celebrates the work of MNPS educators as well as reminds them to “shop” at the DG PENCIL Box year-round. We cannot wait to celebrate and appreciate our teachers at GEODIS Park. Read more: https://lnkd.in/eK8Uq3ww

You can participate as a sponsor, a table host, a guest, a fundraiser, or a donor. Learn more & register: https://lnkd.in/e59Fnpa6 We hope you’ll stand with PENCIL as we celebrate the students and teachers we serve🎉

Thank you, Oracle, for sharing your time, talent and treasure with us earlier this month! — Posted @withregram • Christiane Buggs - This week I had the pleasure of speaking on behalf of PENCIL to 150 Oracle leaders during their visit to Nashville. They brought school supplies and stuffed more than 150 backpacks for Metro Schools students! They are already the major funding partner of our STEAM Lending kits for the district and we are so excited to deepen that partnership to continue supporting MNPS schools, students & educators ❤️

School may be out but the planning to better support our students never stops. Earlier this week, #PENCILPartner, The Lodge At Natchez Trace, visited James Lawson High School for a tour and planning session. We cannot wait to watch the career-based learning that happens between this Partnership!
