Another elite Oregon State University student-athlete takes the national stage: Second baseman and Pac-12 Player of the Year Travis Bazzana was selected by the Cleveland Guardians as the No. 1 overall pick in the 2024 Major League Baseball (MLB) First-Year Player Draft. Raised in Boardman, a small Eastern Oregon community, business analytics student Yazeli Lomas-Ayala is the first in her family – and one of just six from her high school’s graduating class – to go to college.    At OSU, she found an environment where she can flourish on the path to her Oregon State University College of Business degree, thanks in part to the generosity of donors who support OSU scholarships.    "Just a single scholarship means, 'oh, I don't have to take out that loan. I don't have that debt. The elite athletes on the U.S. Olympic team will be sporting opening ceremony uniforms made with wool provided by Shaniko Wool Company, LLC. Owned by Jeanne Carver, M.S. ’79, a College of Education graduate and one of the 2024 OSU Alumni Association Changemakers, Shaniko previously provided the wool for Team USA’s 2014, 2018 and 2022 Winter Olympics uniforms. As we head into the Independence Day holiday, we’re grateful for members of Oregon State University’s veteran community for their selflessness and dedication to serving our country. Nearly 200 student veterans received their diplomas as part of the university’s 155th graduating class this June.
