    Taking Flight with Onshape: Designing the Phoenix's Canopy Kinematic At Jfox Aircraft, we're passionate about pushing the boundaries of Net-zero electric aviation. With our latest project, the Phoenix electric ducted fan hydrogen-powered, we aim for new heights in efficiency and sustainability. A critical aspect of aircraft design is the canopy kinematic – the mechanism that allows safe and smooth entry and exit for the pilot. For the Phoenix, we turned to Onshape, the cloud-native CAD software platform, to bring our vision to life. Here's how Onshape empowered us: Collaborative Design: Onshape's real-time collaboration features allowed our engineers to work seamlessly together, regardless of location. Intuitive Modeling: Onshape's robust modeling tools enabled us to iterate on different design concepts for the canopy kinematic quickly. The intuitive interface streamlined the process, allowing us to focus on innovation. Integrated Simulation: This helped us ensure a smooth, reliable, and safe mechanism.     Currently found in over 300 brand products across various markets, BOA®'s innovative dial-based fit system has enhanced comfort, precision, and adaptability for a variety of sports and active footwear. In 2023, BOA turned to Onshape after years of lost time and budget due to the lack of reliability with their previous CAD platform. Their design team estimates that the switch has saved them approximately $38,000 annually and boosted their productivity by up to 50%. Why did they make the switch? Josef Duller, a Design Engineering Manager at BOA mentions "When we were considering Onshape, it was pretty amazing to see how you could collaborate in a document together." Boa has also pointed to Onshape's built-in PDM, simultaneous editing, branching and merging features, and more as reasons why they made the jump.     Naked robots. Have you ever wondered what robots look like without an enclosure? 👀 Ocado Technology has developed an impressive series of robots in micro-fulfillment centers for automated order processing. These robots show the power of additive manufacturing, with each unit containing over 300 3D-printed components, accounting for more than half of the robot's total parts. ♟️ This extensive use of additive manufacturing has resulted in lighter robots, resulting in lower production costs, reduced energy consumption, and overall cost savings for robot grid operations. Additionally, the use of 3D printing technology simplifies and accelerates the sourcing of spare parts. Each of the 60 global micro-fulfillment centers incorporates up to 4,000 robots, demonstrating a notable and advanced use of additive manufacturing in industrial robotics.
