We asked one of our Principal Associates, Tiffany Chau, some quick fire questions about the SAP market.. 1. What have you found candidates are looking for most in a new role? More flexible working conditions. This trend is particularly noticeable in Germany, where fully remote roles are still uncommon. Consequently, candidates are increasingly seeking employers who offer more flexible working arrangements, preferably hybrid models with fewer fixed office days. Additionally, the option to work from other countries for a few weeks per year is becoming increasingly important for candidates seeking a better work-life balance. 2. Why are people leaving current roles? Primarily due to a lack of career development opportunities and insufficient flexibility in working conditions. Many feel that their current positions do not offer clear pathways for advancement or skill enhancement. Additionally, rigid work schedules and the requirement to be in the office frequently are pushing professionals to seek employers who offer more adaptable and supportive work environments. 3. What are the most in-demand skillsets you’re seeing in SAP? The demand is high for SAP consultants who possess coding skills, like debugging. However, process knowledge is equally crucial und often underrated. Companies are not just looking for generic IT professionals; they need consultants who understand and can communicate effectively with users. For example, an SAP FI consultant with a finance background and technical expertise in customizing and debugging is highly valuable to our clients. 4. What is most exciting about SAP right now? The SAP market is particularly dynamic due to the increasing urgency of cloud migrations and SAP’s 2027 deadline. This has created a pressing need for companies to migrate, and candidates have recognized the growing necessity of learning S/4HANA. This trend is driving both demand for skilled consultants and opportunities for professional growth in the SAP ecosystem. Thank you for your thoughts, Tiffany! #OPTechnology #SAP #HiringTrends

I had a conversation earlier with an extremely experienced SAP consultant who is BULLISH on the introduction of AI into SAP. Personally, I'm not a big fan of the AI encroachment (looking at you LinkedIn...), but I can certainly see how AI would be beneficial in SAP, especially when automating/speeding up repetitive tasks for already stretched users. So, what do you think? Is AI about to revolutionise SAP?

Still seeing a lot of people posting about having a very poor interviewing experience with companies. No interview feedback, complete ghosting, 6+ stage interview processes, telling candidate's that "we're so close to making an offer, we'd just like to see a couple of other candidates before we do". If you are a company hiring niche talent, the experience that you give candidates during your interview process is absolutely vital. It's a very small grapevine out there in your chosen sector be it, Technology, Supply-Chain, Renewables etc.... Creating a positive candidate experience during the interview process reflects your organization's culture and values which in turn influences candidates' perceptions and decisions. Even if you turn a candidate down, if they leave with a good experience speaking with your company, THAT IS A GOOD THING! Candidates are more likely to speak positively about your company, boosting your brand in a close-knit ecosystem. On the other hand, a poor candidate experience can deter potential employees and will damage your image. Prioritizing a good candidate experience is an investment in your company's future success. I'm seeing more and more companies wanting to "build an office culture" bringing people back on-site, hybrid. So if you're interviewing in a local talent pool, this becomes even more important! We can help you with this. Ping me for some free tips. Tom@oliverparks.com - +1 646 661 3070
