Members of the Commerce team attended the 2024 Rural Economic Development and Select Oklahoma Technical Retreat in Durant this week. Martin Roberts, Commerce Incentive Specialist, provided an overview of programs and incentives available to new and existing companies in Oklahoma. The Commerce team – joined by Heather Turner, new Executive Director of CORE – toured the new OAK OKC development in Northwest Oklahoma City. This exciting development is utilizing the Oklahoma Tourism Development Act, an incentive to help attract out-of-state visitors to increase state sales tax.

The Oklahoma Department of Commerce recently attended the first-ever Hydrogen Technology Expo North America in Houston. The team spent two days discussing all things #hydrogen advancement and making connections to help expand Oklahoma's hydrogen energy sector.

The Universal blockbuster film "Twisters" is set to release in theatres later this month. Filmed in Oklahoma, the movie used the Oklahoma Film + Music Office's rebate incentive. Check out this behind-the-scenes look.

The Commerce team recently sat down with Goodwill Central Oklahoma, a recipient of the Oklahoma Innovation Expansion Program grant. Last week, the Commerce team toured Continental Carbon in Ponca City alongside Rep. Ken Lutrell and Sen. Bill Coleman and the Ponca City Development Authority. Continetnal Carbon is a world leader in the production of carbon black, which is used to make industrial rubber, tires and a variety of other products. Companies like Continental Carbon play an important role in Oklahoma's "more of everything" energy approach.

Today at the SelectUSA Summit, Oklahoma Gov. Kevin Stitt joined leaders from Norwegian solar energy company NorSun to announce the company's $620 million investment in Tulsa, Okla. for its first U.S.-based factory. The Commerce team joined the City of Oklahoma City, The Alliance for Economic Development of Oklahoma City and project consultants for a tour of the construction happening at OKANA Resort & Indoor Waterpark. This $400 million project along the Oklahoma River is being facilitated by the Oklahoma Leverage Act, an incentive program through Commerce. The Commerce Team was happy to join Gov. Stitt and Green Li-ion in Atoka, Okla., today to celebrate the opening of the first-of-its-kind lithium-ion battery recycling plant in North America.
