About us

Oaks Senior Living is a different kind of senior living community - a difference which comes from the many extra things that we do every day. The love, compassion, and understanding that can only come from a dedicated family and staff is what sets us apart from the rest. When we chose to develop retirement communities in Atlanta, Ga., our mission was to provide a home that our residents would be proud to call their own. We have achieved this mission by creating an environment that promotes physical, social and spiritual well-being in a Christian setting. Providing such a high quality of life promotes, dignified living, independence and lasting friendships in an elegant, family and home-like environment. It is never easy to place a loved one in someone else’s daily care. For that matter, it is difficult to admit they need to be there in the first place. The Salabarria family understands this and strives to ensure families are as comfortable with our retirement communities as the residents are themselves. :: Communities Designed to Promote Independence Oaks Senior Living is staffed with professionally trained caregivers, selected for their knowledge, compassion and understanding of our residents’ needs. Each apartment is carefully designed to support independent living, while providing round the clock access to staff and assistance with activities of daily living. :: About Our Horizons Alzheimer’s Care Program Horizons is uniquely designed for those with Alzheimer’s and other related dementias. Our uniquely designed programs enable our residents to live with encouraged dignity and individuality, while being provided the special comfort and care they deserve. We at Oaks Senior Living invite you to visit our distinctive communities in the surrounding areas of Braselton, Cumming, Pooler, and Woodstock (Towne Lake), Georgia and more. Come see for yourself the difference a TRUE “family operated” community will mean for you and your loved one.

Each Oaks Senior Living community is filled with individuals who have rich histories and fascinating stories to tell. It is a privilege to not only have a front row seat to such lives, but have the opportunity to share them with you. Meet Marianne Scheer, resident at Oaks at Pooler. Marianne grew up in Claxton Georgia, the daughter of Floyd and Maxine King. She is an only child, who married her soulmate, Samuel Scheer (to whom she was with for over 50 years until his passing in 2016). They have two sons, Alex and William Scheer, both married. Since a young age, Marianne has had a heart for others. Her desire to care and serve her neighbor led to her career of 50+ years as a nurse at Memorial Hospital in Pooler, Georgia where she worked right up until she retired at the age of 82. When Marianne was not caring for others, she enjoyed spending time in nature. Her love for nature lead her to pick up cycling. During her cycling years, she accomplished BRAG (Bike Ride Across Georgia), a long-distance ride of over 400 miles, on numerous occasions. Always accompanied by her husband, she would bike every day, rain or shine. The team at Oaks at Pooler describe her as resilient, always remaining positive and joyful no matter what life throws at her. She consistently finds the good in everything and everyone. Marianne and Sam’s generosity was and remains a huge part of what people know them to be. They believed in kindness, selflessness and charitable donations. Blessing others for the betterment of their lives is what brought them the most joy. The decision to move Marianne into Oak at Pooler was initially difficult for her family, but the community soon became home. Marianne continues to be a source of joy for her neighbors and caregivers. Oaks at Pooler is grateful to have such a wonderful woman!

Today marks the end of National CNA Week, a strategic time aimed at recognizing, honoring, and celebrating the unique ways that our certified nurses care for their residents. These individuals play a pivotal role in ensuring optimal care outcomes for residents and help create a culture of compassion at each community. Oaks Senior Living is grateful for their hearts to serve and the commitment they make daily to bless those they get to care for.

As we reflect on the importance that was Fathers Day this year, we honor and celebrate all fathers that call an Oaks Senior Living community home. Your strength, love, and sacrifice are a treasure to us and those that you love. Thank you to each community for intentionally celebrating their fathers. Generations gathered together to honor so many wonderful men this Fathers Day, like the Davis family (pictured first) of Oaks at Maple Ridge, who had four generations present to celebrate. It is a pleasure to have the opportunity to capture such special moments in the lives of our residents. We hope you and your family shared in creating similar moments!
