NCHC's Dr. Erinn Gallager, DO, received the AFMRD Resident Award for Advocacy at the 2024 Resident Graduation and White Coat Ceremony. This award is to recognize a resident who has truly exemplified and embraced the role of a physician community leader and advocate. Dr. Gallager is one of our graduating residents and was recognized for her relentless commitment to championing the needs of patients and advocating for a more equitable healthcare system. She has served as the resident director for the Arizona Osteopathic Medical Association and has volunteered her time at numerous local and statewide events. Dr. Christine Kneisel, MD, received the Family and Community Medicine Preceptor of the Year Award from North Country HealthCare at this year's Resident Graduation and White Coat Ceremony. Dr. Kneisel was recognized by the graduating family medicine residency class for her exceptional teaching and support during their inpatient adult rotations at Flagstaff Medical Center. Dr. Kneisel has been an incredible supporter and educator for the residents since the inception of this program. Her steadfast commitment has helped to grow the program and provide high quality educational experiences for our residents in the hospital setting. North Country HealthCare joined Winslow Indian Health Care Center/Dilkon Medical Center today at the inaugural School Health Conference. The event was held at Dilkon Community School, 40 miles north of #Winslow, and focused on helping youth embrace health and wellness. NCHC's Dr. Song and David Owen visited Kinsley and Thomas Elementary schools for Kinder Camp, where they gave a special presentation for kiddos going into Kindergarten to learn what to expect for the new school year! David started them out with stretches and then Dr. Song showed them what to expect if they go to a doctor's appointment - demonstrating taking their blood pressure, how a stethoscope works, testing their reflexes, and even what getting a shot looks like. Thank you David and Dr. Song for visiting!

Brandon Abbott, DO, MPH received the Distinguished Service Award from North Country HealthCare for his support of our family and community medicine program at the 2024 Resident Graduation and White Coat Ceremony on June 22, 2024. Dr. Abbott has been a champion for graduate medical education in northern Arizona since he attended medical school in our beautiful region, as a member of the first class of AT Still University School of Osteopathic Medicine in Arizona (ATSU-SOMA). Dr. Abbott returned to North Country HealthCare in 2015 after completing his internal medicine and pediatrics residency, and immediately started working on the NARBHA Institute Family & Community Medicine Residency Program, which was in the early stages of development. Later, Dr. Abbott became the inaugural Associate Program Director and helped us achieve Teaching Health Center Graduate Medical Education funding to support the program into the future. Now, Dr. Abbott teaches residents at Flagstaff Medical Center and continues to advocate for medical resident and student education in the region.
