Last month was an exciting month for NextEra Energy Resources and Northern California! Two new renewable energy projects in Stanislaus County are now delivering clean energy to Sonoma Clean Power and San Francisco Public Utilities Commission customers. For more than 30 years, NextEra Energy Resources has been investing in California’s economy and building strong relationships across the state. And these projects highlight our continued investment in delivering clean, reliable and affordable energy for California customers. In addition to increasing access to clean energy, the Paulsell Energy Center has committed nearly $100,000 to nonprofit organizations, and the Proxima Energy Center is expected to generate millions in additional tax revenue for the community over the next 20 years. The ability to site and build new projects across the U.S. is going to be essential for our customers to grow their businesses. NextEra Energy Resources, alongside representatives from @INEOS Olefins & Polymers USA, broke ground on the INEOS Hickerson Solar project in Bosque County, Texas last week. The project will have the capacity to generate up to 310 MW of photovoltaic solar energy. Celebrating 20 years of wind energy in North Dakota! Twenty years ago, NextEra Energy Resources arrived in southeastern North Dakota to build the state’s very first wind farm. Since then our focus has always been building strong relationships with the community, and these bonds have stood the test of time. Recently we had the honor of celebrating 20 years in the state with the community leaders who steadfastly supported us from the beginning! The event, which took place in Jamestown, featured our new documentary “Winds of Change: The Wind Sites That Transformed North Dakota” showcasing our engagement with the community and commitment to the state over the past two decades. Today, NextEra Energy Resources operates 16 wind energy centers across North Dakota and our commitment to the state doesn’t stop there. It was a pleasure to chat with Vijay V. Vaitheeswaran at #EconSustainability last week, where we explored the importance of power and the impact it has on the broader economy. During our conversation, we highlighted the significant surge in energy demand across America today and how NextEra Energy Resources is strategically positioned to power this growth. Renewables and storage are set to play a pivotal role in meeting this demand. They offer an unbeatable combination of being clean, cost-effective, and the quickest to deploy. I’m particularly excited about battery storage, as it enables the shifting of renewable generation to the times when it is needed most. Looking ahead, industry estimates suggest we will triple our renewables and storage capacity in the next seven years compared to the past seven—a staggering increase! It’s evident that there’s a profound shift happening in how we collectively think about clean energy. Less than a year ago, these technologies were being deployed predominantly to replace aging or retiring plants. We now have entered a new paradigm for the power sector in which we are both transforming the country's energy mix while also meeting the significant new demand from new manufacturing, industrial activities and growth in the technology sector. At NextEra Energy Resources, we believe in supporting our communities and working together to develop future leaders. As part of our commitment to support science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) education we were thrilled to present both White Castle High School and Gosnell Elementary with grants for their future leaders. Our STEM grants focus on having more hands-on learning experiences for future STEM leaders to continue to foster their curiosity and growth. The excitement and appreciation from the students and faculty were truly inspiring! The energy sector is complex and constantly changing. To meet our collective energy goals and further innovation in the sector, we must foster the talent of tomorrow. Together, we can continue to empower the next generation of innovators and leaders.

I am excited to announce that NextEra Energy Resources has entered into a joint development agreement with Entergy to accelerate the development of up to 4.5 gigawatts of new storage and renewable energy projects. This collaboration represents a significant milestone in advancing Entergy's renewable generation portfolio. The power sector is at an important inflection point. We expect the significant new energy demand to be met primarily with renewable generation and storage, and this agreement will enable Entergy to provide customers across Arkansas, Louisiana, Mississippi and Texas with low-cost, reliable energy solutions. I had a great time touring the Clearwater Wind complex in southeast Montana recently and had the opportunity to see our sites up close, both operating and under construction. I always love trips like these because I get to spend time with our development, operating and construction teams and see how passionate they are about what they do! In total, Clearwater Wind I, II, III and Clearwater East will produce about 775 megawatts of clean energy for several customers in the Pacific Northwest. These sites not only support our communities through generating emissions-free energy, creating jobs and facilitating economic growth, but are also integral to meeting the energy demand we are seeing across the U.S. today. Witnessing the positive impact of our sites is truly motivating. While we still have much work ahead to meet the rising energy demands of our communities and customers, I have full confidence in our team’s ability to achieve these goals. #cleanenergy #energytransition #renewables NextEra Energy Resources

This Memorial Day, we honor those who made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty serving our country. We will never forget their service.

Our industry has realized an important inflection point and is undergoing a significant shift - from a focus on stability to a focus on growth - in a relatively short amount of time. A recent The Brattle Group report sheds light on the demand we are facing and what needs to be done to meet it – specifically how utilities need to approach forecasting to plan accordingly. Without making some changes to our current system, meeting today’s load growth, and tomorrow’s, will be challenging. And the cost of inaction is extremely high as laid out in the report. In contrast, embracing growth fosters innovation, creates opportunities and fuels the economy. I firmly believe that we cannot do nothing, and we at NextEra Energy Resources are leading the charge to bring new generation resources and comprehensive solutions to the market today.
