We would like to send a heart felt thank you to the Maine Cancer Foundation . MCF helps so many organizations in our state support patients and fight cancer. We just heard word that the Snell Foundation, which provides support for patients fighting cancer, just had their grant proposal for lung cancer screenings approved. This is fantastic news for Maine! Thank you MCF for all that you are doing to stem the tide of cancer.

Today, as we remember the many sacrifices that have preserved our freedoms, we also want to thank our patients and team members who have left one battlefield for another. We are proud to work alongside you and are forever in your debt.

Trevor Maxwell, an active treatment, Stage 4 Colorectal Cancer patient, visited us Monday to give backpacks to patients receiving care. Trevor is the Founder of Man Up to Cancer and visited both Scarborough and Topsham with Joe Bullock, the foundation's COO.

Through her solid commitment to providing exceptional care, Tracie embodies the values of our organization and exemplifies what it means to go above and beyond in serving our community. If you've seen the snow leopard scene in The Secret Life of Walter Mitty, you know how hard it was to get a photo of these three, but it was worth it. Our nurses deserve a lot of recognition and this week, at NECS, we are celebrating their dedication. If you're a nurse, thank you for your steadfast care. Thank you to the Portland Sea Dogs for treating our VIP guest so well during yesterday's game. Stacey King, her family, and Dr. Devon Evans were able to take the field for her ceremonial first pitch for the game against the New Hampshire Fisher Cats . Stacey and Dr. Evans are fighting breast cancer together at our Portsmouth practice.

As part of the Lewiston / Auburn community, we know how significant the loss of St. Mary's oncology practice will be for both patients and cancer care professionals. We know transition plans there are still in development however, if you know of anyone experiencing a crisis of care or employment, there are resources available close by.
