Here is our first version of the Strengths-Based IEP made by our co-founder. Lana Kristine Jelenjev using the SOAR method. The SOAR framework consists of four key components: two current (strengths and opportunities) and two future-focused (aspirations and results). It is an appreciative inquiry process that asks generative questions to encourage people to voice their feelings and thoughts about what really matters. STRENGTHS: What is already going strong? OPPORTUNITIES: What are the possibilities? ASPIRATIONS: What are our dreams or wishes? RESULTS: What are meaningful outcomes? PDF VERSION WITH 11 PAGES. You can download the IEP for FREE here https://lnkd.in/e-Vhp94Q If you are interested in applying more strengths-based practices in your organization, do get in touch. We provide trainings and workshops for schools, businesses and organizations.

Let's celebrate Disability Pride Month! I'm proud of my disability identity and my journey with deafness and blindness. It's taken me many years to be confident about who I am. I love the celebration and visibility Disability Pride Month provides, and I wish it had existed when I was growing up. Disability Pride Month is now celebrated every July to mark the passage of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) in 1990. Disability Pride Month is an opportunity for disabled people to unapologetically take up space and share our experiences, identity, and history. We also always advocate for equity and inclusion in society. It's also an opportunity for nondisabled people to learn more about disability, amplify disabled voices, and take concrete action to support our community. The Disability Pride Flag was created by Ann Magill in 2019 and was updated in 2021 to be more inclusive. Each color signifies a different group of disabilities: Red - physical Gold - neurodiversity White/Pale Grey - invisible or undiagnosed Blue - mental health Green - sensory disabilities including blindness + deafness Here are easy ways to celebrate Disability Pride Month: 1. Follow disabled creators, voices, and advocates. Support disabled creators, voices, and advocates by following them and engaging with their content. 2. Watch film/TV made by disabled people and with disabled people as actors. Some examples are: - Crimp Camp - CODA - Special 3. Support disabled entrepreneurs and business owners. 4. Make your content more accessible by adding: - Image Descriptions - Alt Text - Captions on videos - Transcripts - Pascal Case hashtags - And more! How are you celebrating Disability Pride? P.S. Tag any disabled creators, voices, and advocates you recommend in the comments! Image Description: A “Straight Diagonal” version of the Disability Pride Flag: A charcoal grey flag with a diagonal band from the top left to bottom right corner, made up of five parallel stripes (going from bottom up; left to right) in red, gold, pale grey, blue, and green. How to navigate the journey of late diagnosis? Over the past decade, we have seen the increase of late diagnosis in neurodivergent adults. Some possible factors for this rise in figures are better awareness and screening. In some instances, the accessibility of screening for school aged children prompt the screening for their parents. In this panel, we will have Ben Davies Saskia Wenniger Tecca Thompson Rachel Cometa Estuar who will share how they navigated the journey of late diagnosis. One of the aspects that is often poorly understood about ADHD is that it isn’t actually a deficit in attention but rather difficulty regulating attention. Our attention tends to be inconsistent—although, as Dr. Dodson highlights, it is consistently inconsistent. This is because the ADHD nervous system is a distinct system with unique drivers. Dr. Dodson compares the ADHD interest-based nervous system to an importance-based system, which prioritizes tasks based on importance. The ADHD nervous system doesn’t work this way and has unique drivers that help us get engaged in a task. This is where many ADHD treatments fall short. These treatments often start with the assumption that ADHDers should function like neurotypical systems. There is power in understanding how our system works and learning to work with it instead of against it. Today’s blog post unpacks how to work with this system and expands on the ideas in this post. You can read today's blog here: https://lnkd.in/gfhzgRch You can also grab the interest-based workbook at 25% off this week (use code Interested) available here: https://lnkd.in/g9HjxHJK #ADHD #ADHDNervousSystem #InterestBasedNervousSystem #ADHDTreatment #UnderstandingADHD #ADHDInsights #Neurodivergent #ADHDAwareness #ADHDMotivation #MentalHealth #ADHDLife #NeurodivergentInsights #ADHDMiniSeries
