DEFEND - DEVELOP - DECOLONIZE

About us

We are unapologetically, unabashedly NDN. United like never before, we rise together—arm in arm—to equip all Indigenous Peoples with the tools needed to become architects of their future. Through a holistic approach to infrastructure, funding, advocacy, consulting, and philanthropy we are fostering a world of justice and equity for all people and the planet. -- DEFEND OUR PEOPLE, COMMUNITIES, AND NATIONS Negative resource extraction pollutes our water, destroys our land, contributes to climate change, and violates the rights of our people. Organizing our communities, making our voices heard, and utilizing a wide variety of tactics is imperative in shifting the political and financial systems that impact all aspects of life. -- DEVELOP REGENERATIVE AND SUSTAINABLE INDIGENOUS COMMUNITIES We need to meet the needs of the present generation without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs. We are doing this through regenerative community development, renewable energy investments and social enterprise development. -- DECOLONIZE OUR MINDS, COMMUNITIES, AND SOVEREIGN NATIONS The decolonization of our communities and people is directly related to our ability to prosper. Through the revitalization of our Indigenous ceremonies, culture, languages and life ways we will continue to strengthen our identity and break free from the oppressive systems that disconnect us from achieving the healing, growth and connection to spirit that is integral for us as Indigenous people.

“As long as they hold Leonard Peltier, they hold a piece of every single one of us,” @rachel_dionne_thunder, a member of the American Indian Movement (AIM) and Indigenous Protectors Movement. What is happening to Leonard is happening to all of us. We are in a time of extreme adversity – From Leonard’s parole denial to both Democratic and Republican support of the genocide of Palestinians in Gaza, it’s disheartening. Coupled with Supreme Court mandated laws targeting unsheltered people and removing protections for Mother Earth, and the investment in cop cities and prisons to accommodate more incarcerations, heavy for all of us. But our spirits and traditions of our people move us forward. Leonard refuses to give up on us and we refuse to give up on him – and all our relatives across Turtle Island and beyond. The fight for justice is not over. Now we take the fight to #FreeLeonardPeltier to the White House! ✊🏽Join us by taking action and signing our petition to urge President Biden to grant Executive Clemency for our relative, Leonard Peltier: https://lnkd.in/ep2eXPKq For latest updates for our #FreeLeonardPeltier campaign: 📲 Text “FreeLeonardNow” to 50302 📩 Sign up for our Organizing and Policy Newsletter: ndnco.cc/qrtlynewsletter 📑 Read our recent blog, "𝘑𝘶𝘴𝘵𝘪𝘤𝘦 𝘋𝘦𝘭𝘢𝘺𝘦𝘥, 𝘑𝘶𝘴𝘵𝘪𝘤𝘦 𝘋𝘦𝘯𝘪𝘦𝘥: 𝘛𝘩𝘦 𝘧𝘪𝘨𝘩𝘵 𝘵𝘰 #FreeLeonardPeltier": ndnco.cc/free-lp 🔗 All links in bio

“I am not intending to give up. And I’m hoping none of you give up,” 79 year-old Leonard Peltier shared in a phone call with Nick Tilsen, President and CEO, after the US Parole Commission' denied Peltier’s Parole. ✊🏽 As Leonard fights for us, we fight for Leonard. Join us in urging President Biden to grant Executive Clemency for our relative, Leonard Peltier: https://lnkd.in/ep2eXPKq “There’s a 97% incarceration rate in the downtown Rapid City Pennington County Jail. We know that ever since they took Leonard Peltier, they’ve been trying to take all of us. Leonard Peltier has been a political prisoner. We know that [the United States] incarcerated Crazy Horse. They incarcerated Sitting Bull. And they were killed. Leonard Peltier has been sitting in jail for 49 years because they want the same outcome.” said Andrew Catt-Ironshell, NDN Collective Action Organizer, during last week’s caravan and freedom rally. July 11 marks the siege on Kanehsatà:ke (aka the Oka crisis). In 1990, Mohawk land defenders peacefully occupied their ancestral lands in order to prevent over 200-year-old pine forest from being destroyed by real estate expansion, northwest of Tiohtià:ke/Montréal. 35 years ago, today, a SWAT team attacked the peaceful barricade in Kanehsatà:ke. This siege lasted 78 days on the peoples of Kanehsatà:ke and Kahnawake by the provincial and federal government. We take the time to remember, and honour the resistance movements of those who’ve come before us & call upon our community members to join the struggle and recognize that #LandBack is bigger than just the area of Kanehsatà:ke. We also continue to call for continued support & amplification for our Palestinian relatives whose struggle of land dispossession through settler colonialism, like ours, continues. #OkaCrisis #IndigenousCanada #IndigenousSovereignty

The Oceti Sakowin Community Academy was developed in partnership with NDN Collective, Native American Inspired Schools Network and NDN Holdings, a for-profit entity owned by NDN Collective. NDN Holdings played a pivotal role in securing building space and land for OSCA and its future school site. “When it came to the school, NDN Holdings acted as a thought partner to support Mary and others in the planning phase,” said Robby Burroughs (Dry Creek Pomo), NDN Holdings Managing Director. In addition to addressing educational justice, language and culture revitalization, OSCA also represents a huge step toward #LANDBACK in South Dakota. The site of OSCA’s new school is currently in development and will be wholly owned by the school upon completion. “In the most literal sense, this school is on Indigenous land, owned by an Indigenous organization that will eventually be owned by the Academy. So in that aspect, it’s definitely LANDBACK,” Robby said. There’s no justice on stolen land. There’s no freedom for Indigenous people to fully live as ourselves on our ancestral lands without the intrusion of settler systems dictating our daily lives and committing continued violence against us— erasing our histories and lived experiences, disappearing our women, girls and Two Spirit relatives, overcriminalization and incarceration of our People, extraction from our lands, encroachment on the sovereignty of our Nations. So today, we’re calling out the lies. Today is not a day of independence for us, but a reminder to keep fighting. We continue to organize, mobilize, and fight for our dignity, for our lands, for our personal and collective self-determination, and for TRUE justice for all people and the planet— not just for the privileged and the few. Let today stoke that fire within you to keep fighting for our true liberation, for our Lands, our Bodies, and our People. The next seven generations are depending on us. #FourthOfYouLie #LANDBACK #DefendDevelopDecolonize #NDNCollective

“Today is a sad day for Indigenous Peoples and justice everywhere. The U.S. Parole Commission’s denial of parole for Leonard Peltier, America’s longest serving Indigenous political prisoner, is a travesty,” said Nick Tilsen, president and CEO of NDN Collective. “They denied parole to a survivor of genocidal Indian boarding schools as he struggles to survive this unjust incarceration, they insist on holding him for a crime for which they have no physical evidence against him.” ✊🏽 NDN Collective will continue to demand freedom for Leonard Peltier as his attorneys file an appeal of this decision and push for a grant of clemency from President Joe Biden. 📖 Read Full Press Release: ndnco.cc/lpprd 🔗 Link in Bio under "Read Latest Press Release" Do you want to take action and support the #FreeLeonardPeltier campaign? 🤳 Text “FreeLeonardNow’’ to 50302 to receive latest updates and join the movement. #FreeLeonardPeltier #NDNCollective
