In celebration of our 30th anniversary, NPA is running a "Now and Then" campaign, comparing information about the association between today and three decades ago. This post highlights that for 30 years NPA has worked to ensure PACE organizations have the regulatory and payment environment that makes it possible to provide person-centered care to each participant and their family. Providing leadership and support for the growth, innovation, quality and success of the PACE® Model of Care
About us
The National PACE Association (NPA) works to advance the efforts of Programs of All-Inclusive Care for the Elderly (PACE®) so older individuals can continue living in their community. The PACE model is centered on the belief that it is better for the well-being of seniors with chronic care needs and their families to be served in the community whenever possible. PACE serves individuals who are age 55 or over, certified by their state to need nursing home care, are able to live safely in the community at the time of enrollment, and live in a PACE service area. Although all PACE participants must be certified to need nursing home care to enroll in PACE, only about 7 percent of participants nationally reside in a nursing home.

"Dopamine decor" is a new term for how people respond emotionally to the aesthetic of their home. Older adults are at risk for depression, Parkinson’s disease and other medical conditions linked to low levels of dopamine. One way to stimulate dopamine is through emotional activity, according to Christopher Norman, a geriatric nurse practitioner at PACE CNY. #dopaminedecor

National PACE® Association reposted this
Launch day! Today, the PACE Association of Ohio (PAO) officially launched as a new trade association in Ohio. The Program for All-Inclusive Care for the Elderly (PACE) began a major expansion in our state after the passage of House Bill 45 in 2022, with providers and advocates pointing to the program’s proven track record of providing quality care, high rates of participant satisfaction and re-enrollment, and the potential cost savings to the state of Ohio in serving more nursing home eligible adults in their homes, with access to the right services and supports. With providers selected last year and work underway to begin new sites in nine Ohio counties, along with the currently active sites in Cuyahoga County, the PACE Association of Ohio will begin its work to advocate for PACE providers, participants, and staff before the Ohio General Assembly, the Governor’s Administration, and all Ohio policymakers and interest groups who interact with PACE, healthcare, and services and supports for older adults. PAO will serve as a state affiliate of the National PACE® Association, the national trade association representing PACE providers, and maintain a strategic partnership here in Ohio with LeadingAge Ohio.
