Live the life you want.

About us

The National Federation of the Blind knows that blindness is not the characteristic that defines you or your future. Every day we raise the expectations of blind people because low expectations create obstacles between blind people and our dreams. You can live the life you want; blindness is not what holds you back. The National Federation of the Blind believes in the full capacity of blind people and has the power, influence, diversity, and determination to help transform our dreams into reality. We believe in blind people because we are blind people. Our democratically elected leaders and our diverse nationwide membership are made up of blind people, our families, and our friends. We are bound together by the shared belief that we are capable of achieving our dreams and living the lives we want. We support one another, act with courage and determination when we encounter barriers or experience setbacks, and engage in collective action to improve our lives.

Strategic Communication - Minor International Studies and Global Communication, Director of the NFB of PR, Founder app Glam Backstage, Currently researching the employment rate of the blind poblation in Puerto Rico.

#PR #puertorico#Blind #Ciegos #NFB24 #NFB2024 #Sueños #dreams #metas2024 #lograndometas#NFBPuertoRico #Becas #Scholarship2024NFB #thelmaenflorida

Chair of The Board of Directors at CNIB and Director of Legal Services at the Calgary Police Service

@Thomas Simpson from @CNIB and I are attending the annual National Convention of the @National Federation of the Blind in Orlando this week. We are very excited by the prospect of learning about new technologies, and programs and services that will assist people with sight loss. Today, we met with a number of businesses and organizations looking to hire people who are blind or low vision, whether they are job ready or require training and assistance to fully participate in the world of work. We’re excited to use this information to inform how best to serve Talent Pool member’s in CNIB’s signature employment program, Come to Work. We also attended an interesting seminar on AI and learned about new capabilities of Microsoft Copilot, like searching and summarizing emails, producing complicated Excel reports from existing data, making presentations more accessible, etc. We also saw similar demonstrations with Google Gemini which I wasn't aware was even on the market until today. I have been experimenting with it since and I have been very impressed with its effectiveness and with the quality of its results. We’ll continue to keep you updated as we learn more this week. #NFB24 #Accessibility
