After fleeing war, Viktor and Inna arrived in New York hoping to rebuild their lives. Just as they started to settle into their new lives, their health insurance was canceled, leaving Viktor without coverage for his diabetes. The couple's lawyers at Goulston & Storrs pointed them to NADAP‘s Health Insurance Education & Enrollment team and, within an hour, our Navigators had resolved the issue. If you need help enrolling in or renewing your health insurance, call (212) 986-1170 or email ipa@nadap.org.

We are thrilled to announce the promotion of Camila Pino to Senior Insurance Navigator in recognition of her dedication, expertise in insurance, client-centered approach, and positive impact. Camila joined NADAP during a critical staffing shortage and a significant influx of immigrants in NYC. As a new navigator, Camila swiftly mastered various insurance plans and conducted on-site enrollment services in different Latino communities. Within just 4 months, she was mentoring junior navigators! Additionally, she contributed by translating materials and program webpage into Spanish. Camila's passion for her work is palpable. "It's incredibly meaningful to assist asylum seekers who have just arrived in this country and need support the most," she shares. She not only helps clients find the right insurance but also connects them with essential city resources. In her new role as Senior Navigator, Camila aims to streamline procedures and enhance logistics to improve efficiency and empower clients with better access to their insurance benefits. Join us in congratulating Camila on this well-deserved achievement!

This week, NADAP was honored to join InUnity Alliance (IUA) in celebrating John Coppola and Amy Dorin, two trailblazers who have dedicated their lives to advocating for individuals with substance use disorders (SUD). At the event, our CEO, John A. Darin, also had the privilege of meeting and taking a photo with NYS State Senator Nathalia Fernandez. He expressed our sincere gratitude for Sen. Fernandez's tireless efforts in restoring $11.4 million in funding for Vocational and Job Placement services in the NYS FY 2025 budget. She has been a true hero in mobilizing other legislators to support these necessary services for SUD clients We applaud these advocates for their efforts to create a world where those with substance use disorders receive the support and opportunities they deserve.
