  • - Following Beryl’s landfall yesterday, its second act was the tornado outbreak it produced across parts of northern Louisiana, southern Arkansas and eastern Texas. As seen on map 1 below, there was a record-setting 110 tornado warnings issued yesterday which is the most for any July day. While there were only 15 tornado reports, we will get survey results beginning today. - Tropical tornadoes are very common with landfalling systems, but they are often brief and isolated in nature. Beryl will go down as being one of the most prolific tornado-producing tropical systems on record. #consultmonarch🌐

  • ‣ Current status: Beryl is a disorganized tropical storm, currently fighting wind shear and ingesting dry air. Because of these factors, Beryl is expected to remain disorganized today, with any strengthening not expected to begin until tomorrow. ‣ Forecast: models overnight continued the rightward shift in the track. An incredible shift of about 250 miles compared to this time yesterday. It is still forecast to ramp back up to a hurricane on approach to landfall on the Texas coast. ‣ Timing: as the track continues to shift right, this will delay landfall Monday. Now most likely in the mid-morning to midday time. ‣ Impacts will begin being felt before landfall, with tropical storm force winds and rain from outer bands likely along the Texas coast by Sunday morning for Brownsville and Corpus Christi and by Sunday night for the upper Texas coast. ‣ The risk for flooding rainfall is increasing quickly for Houston. 4-6” of rain now being forecast which matches up well with where the moderate risk for flash flooding is already up for Monday.

  • Hurricane #Beryl reached historic strength Monday night, becoming the earliest Category 5 hurricane ever recorded in the Atlantic.   Fueled by very warm Atlantic waters, Beryl underwent rapid intensification in the last couple days. Such powerful hurricanes typically don’t form this early in the season or so far east due to less favorable conditions. Early summer ocean temperatures are usually cooler, and the low-pressure systems that emerge from the west coast of Africa often face Saharan dust storms, which hinder storm development.
As of this morning, the powerful Cat 5 storm is tracking farther north than what was forecast yesterday. This will bring even greater impacts to Jamaica.

It is still too early to forecast possible impacts to the U.S. Texas coast as have to see if this trend continues. The risk is still low for the Gulf Coast, but slightly higher than yesterday.    How are you protecting your employees, assets, and operations during hurricane season? #consultmonarch🌐

  • Hurricane #Beryl is rapidly intensifying this morning, now classified as a dangerous Category 3 hurricane with maximum sustained winds reaching 115 mph. Life-threatening winds and storm surges are anticipated to impact parts of the Windward Islands by early Monday, July 1st. Beyond its path through the Caribbean, attention will shift to the U.S. At this point the overall weather dynamics likely push this storm westward into Mexico, however residents/businesses in the U.S. should remain vigilant. More to come. #MonarchView #ConsultMonarch 🌐

  • TROPICS UPDATE: We’re monitoring two areas for potential tropical development this weekend. Area #1: Off the southeast coast, possibly becoming a tropical depression before reaching the FL/GA coast tonight. Expect gusty winds/showers, but no widespread flooding is anticipated. Area #2: In the southern Gulf of Mexico, potentially developing into a tropical depression this weekend. Heavy rain could cause flooding in extreme southern Texas (Brownsville) due to recent rainfall from Alberto. #ConsultMonarch🌐
