We’re proud to celebrate the accomplishments of Steven Kent, Ph.D., CFA Kent, a distinguished faculty member at Molloy University School of Business. Steven recently shared his thoughts on industry exposure and stock market concentration. His analysis reveals a compelling comparison: the combined exposure of the S&P 500 to airlines, hotels, casinos, restaurants, and cruise lines is less than half of the exposure to Microsoft (MSFT), one of the mega-cap tech stocks. This highlights the critical importance for portfolio managers to get their MSFT allocations right, even if it means missing out on opportunities in our sector. Additionally, Steven was featured by Victor Ocasio of Newsday Media Group, where he provided valuable insights on unemployment trends. Despite a slight uptick in unemployment on Long Island, it’s relatively modest compared to the rest of the state and historical trends.
