What is impacting a new race among countries to be the European Union’s (EU) crypto hub? In our recent edition of FinTech in Focus, we highlighted jurisdictions like France, Lithuania, and Malta competing for global and European crypto firms to operate in their nations, especially as EU Markets in Crypto Assets (MiCA) rules come into force. On June 30, the first set of rules pertaining to stablecoins came into effect, while the rules for digital assets service providers will come into effect this December. These rules establish reserve and reporting requirements for stablecoins trading in the EU. Read more here: https://lnkd.in/gSjNUnzF #fintech #stablecoins #bitcoin #crypto #eu

"There's no peacetime gathering larger than the Olympic and Paralympic games." As the world currently marvels at the incredible performances and unifying nature of the 2024 Olympic games in France, we're reminded of four-time Olympic gold medal swimmer Janet Evans, OLY's words at #MIGlobal 2024. Janet was a key leader of Los Angeles’ bid to host the 2028 Olympic and Paralympic Games in Los Angeles and recognizes the unique unifying impact the games have on all countries. "We cannot continue to develop drugs and medical devices without understanding their real-world impacts across all patient groups." EVP Esther Krofah wrote for BlackDoctor.org about factors impacting new guidance from the FDA requiring drug and medical device sponsors to submit Diversity Action Plans as part of their submission of Phase 3 clinical trial or pivotal study protocol. Steps towards increased diversity in clinical trials also tie closely to our recent report called "Toward a National Action Plan for Achieving Diversity in Clinical Trials" report found here: https://lnkd.in/eYa3nNYW Read the BlackDoctor.org article: https://lnkd.in/g2CTNtVE #clinicaltrial #diversity #action

During #MIGlobal 2024, our health team launched key initiatives and highlighted ongoing programmatic work in more than two dozen panels featuring leaders across industries and sectors. They discussed a variety of critical health-related topics, including the need for simplified and accessible clinical trials for diverse patients and clinicians in various settings. Patient engagement throughout the product development life cycle—from design to evidence generation—is important for ensuring treatments meet patients’ needs. Building trust with diverse communities is vital for successful clinical research that is generalizable to all populations and requires long-term community engagement and addressing historical harms. Involving underserved communities in all stages of research, from question formulation to dissemination of results, is essential for addressing health disparities. MI Health has been working with employers to accelerate solutions to the concurrent addiction and mental health crises since 2017. We are pleased to see a growing movement among employers that holistically recognizes employees beyond their professional roles. This reflects what MI Health has advocated for from the start: equal prioritization of mental, financial, and physical health through a "whole-person" approach. This series features brief and meaningful insights captured through interviews with executives from a variety of industries and sectors. We hope this series will spark ideas and inspire more leaders to take steps toward implementing #wholepersonhealth for their workforces. Click here for Sabrina Spitaletta Johar's interview with Sharon McLennon Wier, PhD, executive director, and Molly Senack, education and employment community organizer, Center for Independence of the Disabled, New York (CIDNY).
