POV: You’re moving into your new home, and THIS is your community 🥹 We’re in awe of this amazing artwork from Paz de la Calzada 🤩 It’s all in the details, and 414 Petaluma is certainly bringing all that inspiration and more for residents 🌊
As an artist, I’ve had the incredible privilege of contributing to an affordable housing project in Petaluma. Grateful to LPAS Architecture + Design and MidPen Housing Corporation for bringing me on board! Three murals and 13 paintings create a flow—an immersive experience for residents - and a testament to the power of art to transform spaces and uplift communities. My approach to mural making goes beyond the wall. By incorporating architectural features, I’ve shaped a fresh perspective and engage with the space, weaving seamlessly into the surroundings. Affordable housing isn’t just about shelter; it’s about dignity, opportunity, and belonging. These murals symbolize hope and resilience. A reminder that everyone deserves a beautiful, inspiring place to call home. 🌟

Check out our Gateway Rising Grand Opening highlights video! 👇🎥 As part of Housing Leadership Council of San Mateo County's #AffordableHousingMonth in May, we celebrated 140 new affordable homes for families and individuals in Menlo Park 🏡 Initially developed in the 1960s, Menlo Park's Gateway Apartments underwent a complete transformation, increasing the number of homes from 130 to 230 📈, split between the senior property, Sequoia Belle Haven, and the newly redeveloped family property, Gateway Rising. "The redevelopment of both properties followed nearly a decade of important work including affordable housing policy reform in Menlo Park, local investment to prevent non-displacement of existing residents, and financial bifurcating to transition one property into two brand-new properties." - Serena Ip, MidPen Associate Director of Housing Development ICYMI: Read more 🔗 ✍ The Almanac: https://lnkd.in/gYNRy5KR 📝 County of San Mateo: https://lnkd.in/gEsWnudH 📸 Check out our photo album: https://lnkd.in/g_3XmwkS 🌐 Visit our website for more information: https://lnkd.in/gU5awxyc

Labor(s) of love in our 🏡 world Thank you Michael for sharing! We’re so grateful to develop Golden Gate Avenue 💙 A few weeks ago, we hosted our first community meeting about our upcoming community, bringing our partners together to discuss the history of the site, our design process and timeline - and it truly felt so surreal!
One of the best parts of my job is seeing new communities come to life, from soup to nuts. Now three years on from selecting MidPen Housing Corporation to redevelop two surface parking lots in downtown San Francisco, we've gone back to collect community design feedback in advance of final funding applications. 🤞to breaking ground on the first of over 250 new homes in early 2025. These projects at 850 Turk and 750 Golden Gate have been particularly challenging as we are attempting to, and succeeding at, collocating affordable housing and government uses (replacement parking for a state office building). Together with the team from MidPen, David Baker Architects, and Min Design Co, we are showing how more public agencies can put their property to use for people, not just cars.

"We have entitled projects now that cannot get financed through the system. There's a pipeline here. It's ready to go." 💭🏡⌛️ 🗣 Nevada V. Merriman spoke on behalf of MidPen Housing at this week's BAHFA meeting, pushing the urgent need for more public investment - and with everyone's testimonies, we did it! BAHFA unanimously agreed to place the $20B regional Bay Area affordable housing bond measure on the November 2024 ballot! 🗳 Soon, voters will be able to housing history, let's do this! 👇 👂 Listen to the KCBS Radio San Francisco coverage: https://lnkd.in/gmm7r6gj 👀 And learn the news from CalMatters: https://lnkd.in/gBvnCXw2 ➕ KQED

It's official!! 🤩👊 Earlier today, the Bay Area Housing Finance Authority (BAHFA) unanimously voted to place a $20B regional affordable housing bond on the November ballot! We're *so* happy to see this important legislation receive strong support and move forward. Housing affordability (and lack thereof) impacts ALL OF US - we must do more to ensure everyone has a safe space to call home 🏡 Thank you Metropolitan Transportation Commission! 👏 Learn how to support the regional bond here: https://lnkd.in/g2wHb-Az Non-Profit Housing Association of Northern California (NPH), All Home, Enterprise Community Partners

The new Regional Action Plan Solutions Dashboard from All Home shows what it will take to dramatically reduce homelessness in each Bay Area county, and the region as a whole. The good news is ✨ that it’s doable ✨, but it’s also going to take more resources, commitment, and coordination than we’ve brought to bear before. The Solutions Dashboard also shows how important it is to prevent homelessness. It models how preventing homelessness reduces the amount of new affordable housing necessary, and the total cost. So when we increase the % of homelessness prevented, we watch the cost go down (imagine that 😉)! 👏 Read the report - https://lnkd.in/gXnxGvCG
