A quick look back at the past six weeks for the Metro Atlanta Chamber shows that we don’t break stride, even in the heat of the summer! Here’s just a small selection of what we have tackled in these recent weeks:    💼 Hosted U.S. Secretary of the Treasury Janet Yellen for a discussion with metro Atlanta business leaders.   🌷 Welcomed the King and Queen of the Netherlands as they visited Atlanta as the first stop of their U.S. tour and hosted a CEO roundtable for a discussion about Dutch business in Georgia.   🏙 Dug into our Downtown Reimagined initiative and launched a video series and newsletter to complement the ongoing work on Downtown Atlanta’s evolution.  🛩 Marked the 80th anniversary of D-Day with a visit to Normandy and called on companies in France.    ⚽ Started an official countdown for the FIFA World Cup 2026 (704 days and counting!)   📽 Congratulated Grant Wainscott for being named one of the 200 Most Influential of Georgia’s Creative Industries!    😎 Spread the word about metro Atlanta’s business opportunities at amazing shows and conferences with friends and partners from around the world like RenderATL (Render Atlanta), SelectUSA, and #BIO2024.    ⚽ Welcomed Argentine Ambassador Dr. Gerardo Werthein and President of Canada Soccer, Peter Augruso, to celebrate the opening match of Copa America 2024 and discuss soccer as a tool of diplomacy and business - and to showcase ATL’s steady growth as center of gravity for soccer.

Who’s ready for the Peachtree Road Race? For MAC President & CEO Katie Kirkpatrick Kirkpatrick, the Peachtree is both a family and Atlanta tradition. It’s a part of metro Atlanta’s “community” ethos and a selling point for the region. People of all backgrounds come together to run the world’s largest 10K every July 4th.

🏛️ U.S. Secretary of Treasury Janet Yellen visited MAC last week to speak with President & CEO Katie Kirkpatrick and business leaders around the region. 📈 Georgia is ranked 4th in the nation for job creation. 🧑🏭 Georgia has nearly 5 million jobs. Metro Atlanta Chamber just announced the launch of three new initiatives that will connect employers with young talent and propel upward economic mobility across the metro Atlanta region and state. The programs will build upon MAC’s existing talent development work and help address the significant challenges employers face when it comes to finding talent for in-demand job functions. Thank you to the Arthur M. Blank Family Foundation for generously funding this important work!

Metro Atlanta is a center for jobs in AI, digital technology, and data engineering – that position was strengthened this week with Cargill’s announcement that they will hire 400 workers for a new digital technology and data office in Midtown Atlanta. The country’s largest privately held food producer selected the location based on the region’s rich pool of technical talent and expertise. Welcome!

MAC is passionate about showcasing why metro Atlanta is a global business leader. Recently, MAC President & CEO Katie Kirkpatrick visited France to hold some important conversations with companies like VERESCENCE and NYCO, specialty lubricants and synthetic esters about their operations in metro Atlanta, as well as meet with the U.S. Ambassador to France. These efforts highlight the region’s status as a leading hub for global business connections.
