Eli Lilly and Company is acquiring Morphic Therapeutic a biopharmaceutical leader in oral integrin therapies for chronic diseases. Daniel Skovronsky, Lilly’s Chief Scientific Officer, stated, "Oral therapies like MORF-057 could revolutionize early intervention and combination treatments for diseases such as ulcerative colitis. We eagerly welcome the Morphic team to Lilly." Key Details: - Lilly will acquire all Morphic shares for $57 each,  totalling approximately $3.2 billion. - The transaction, expected to close in Q3 2024, represents a 79% premium to Morphic's July 5, 2024 closing price. Charles River Laboratories and AAVantgarde Bio have entered a CDMO agreement to produce GMP plasmid DNA. AAVantgarde Bio, with its innovative AAV vector platforms for large gene delivery, will use Charles River Laboratories' expertise to advance treatments for inherited retinal diseases, beginning with Stargardt's disease. Stargardt's, the most common inherited macular dystrophy, affects 1 in 6,500 people and currently has no therapies. This partnership leverages Charles River Laboratories’ GMP plasmid DNA CDMO center in Keele, UK, to support AAVantgarde Bio's Stargardt's disease program. Exciting News from ProBio! GenScript ProBio has launched a new manufacturing facility in Hopewell, New Jersey, expanding their plasmid DNA and viral vector production capabilities! This 128,000-square-foot site will be the central hub for ProBio’s cell and gene therapy production in North America. As Patrick Liu, ProBio’s chairman, said, “The Hopewell facility exemplifies our mission to bring innovative therapies from concept to reality.” Launched in 2020, ProBio secured $224 million in early 2023 boosting manufacturing capacity. The new facility offers comprehensive services, including tech transfer, method and analytical development, process development, and drug product manufacturing for both clinical and commercial-grade therapies.
