As back-to-school preparations begin across the Midwest, we’re introducing a convenient new feature to help families seamlessly get the school supplies requested by their teachers. The new digital “School Supply List” technology allows parents to enter their zip code, search for their school’s supply lists, and then add those items to their cart with a single click. As part of our ongoing effort to provide value to families and educators, we are bringing back our ever-popular teacher coupon, giving them 15% off school and home office equipment, and introducing Meijer brand school supplies. It's your future, maybe it starts with Meijer!
About us
It takes guts to start a business during the Great Depression. And it takes vision to keep it going. Our founder, Hendrik Meijer, opened Thrifty Acres in 1934. Almost thirty years later, his son, Fred, pioneered the world’s first ever supercenter – setting the table for who we are today: a multi-billion-dollar household name in retail. Of course, we’re not done. Not by a long shot. We recently launched the nation’s largest grocery home-delivery service – reinventing the business of grocery shopping … again. A lot has changed over the years, except for one thing; we’re still family owned. And that sense of family runs deep in everything we do. It’s the difference between selling a product and serving a community, and it’s the reason we’ve given back over $30 million to local food pantries in the last ten years. So, if you appreciate the pioneering spirit of Meijer, we’d like to connect with you. Because the bigger our family, the better.

As part of our ongoing commitment to supplier inclusion, we were pleased to collaborate once again with many of our local and diverse-owned food and beverage vendors at this year’s 10th Meijer LPGA Classic for Simply Give. Throughout the tournament, we featured a wide variety of dishes and cuisines daily, offering spectators fun, flavorful dishes to try and experience. What’s even better is many of these vendors have their products on Meijer shelves year-round! Check out these incredible entrepreneurs and their stories: https://bit.ly/3LrVBmJ #meijercommunity

Today we opened the doors of our first Meijer Grocery outside of Michigan, in Noblesville, Ind. It’s the third Meijer Grocery format store of its kind and the 43rd Meijer store in the state. The new Noblesville Grocery store demonstrated their community support prior to opening with a $15,000 donation to Fueled for School, and again today with a $10,000 donation to the Noblesville Youth Baseball program. 90 years ago, Hendrik Meijer opened our very first store in Greenville, Michigan, with his wife Gezina and their children, Johanna and Fred. Today, we remain focused on their legacy of serving our customers, creating a culture of dignity and respect, and investing in the communities we serve. Here’s to celebrating our remarkable heritage and the next 90 years.
