MainStreet Bank was honored to be presented with a Community Partnership Award at the English Empowerment Center's 62nd Annual Recognition Ceremony. The English Empowerment Center, based in Falls Church, Virginia, helps adults build English literacy and fluency. Three students spoke at the ceremony and read their essays about how English has opened a world of opportunity to them – helping them communicate confidently at work, at home, and in the community. It was such an inspiring night hearing from students, teachers, volunteers, staff, and community members!
We were so excited to celebrate three of our incredible community partners at EEC’s Annual Recognition Ceremony last week. Each of these partners bring something unique to the EEC community. Thank you to Fairfax County’s Solid Waste Management for your partnership with EEC, investing in employees for whom English is a second language as a key strategy to ensure that the workforce is representative of the community and opens pathways to advancement for diverse candidates. In your partnership with EEC, offering our customized workforce curriculum on site for your team, you are removing barriers for their talented and hardworking staff to develop their skills for current and future roles, empowering them with the tools they need to meet their personal and professional goals. Thank you to MainStreet Bank for being a collaborative and trusted banking partner throughout the years. We are so appreciative of your care and attention of a true community bank along with your cutting-edge practices. Additionally, through your employee giving program, Making Change, you have been generous sponsors of our A Taste of Literacy fundraising event for several years. We are incredibly grateful for your personal touch, partnership, and commitment to this work! Thank you to the Philip L. Graham Fund for your understanding of the broad and changing needs of the community, supporting innovative and efficient organizations that provide direct services to individuals and families. Since 2006, your investments in EEC’s infrastructure, such as computer upgrades, website updates, training materials, and volunteer management tools, have ensured that EEC could sustain both programmatic improvements and increases to the numbers we serve. Thank you for all your are doing in the community!
