"With mental health, we've been really accepting of slow change instead of pushing for big progress. We want 90% of people in recovery. We want 90% of people to be screened. We want the same kind of success in mental health that we are seeing in other areas of medicine and healthcare.” - Amy Kennedy, co-founder of The Kennedy Forum and newly announced Little Otter advisor Amy’s commitment to improving mental health care for children and families is a perfect fit for our mission at Little Otter. In a recent feature by PEOPLE Magazine | PEOPLE.com, Amy discusses her own family’s journey with mental health, her vision for transforming mental health services, and how she plans to make a difference with Little Otter. We are thrilled to share that Little Otter’s co-founder, Dr. Helen Egger, recently spoke at the Fortune Brainstorm Health conference to address the critical youth mental health crisis and the unmet needs of children. Dr. Egger highlighted a crucial point: “For the last 30 years, we've known that 20% of kids have an impairing mental health disorder and fewer than 50% get care. Lack of access to high-quality mental health care and the stigma has really contributed to this crisis.” At Little Otter, we are dedicated to changing these statistics and we know that when one member of the family is struggling, everyone is affected. Our whole family approach includes children’s therapy, couples counseling, child psychiatry, parenting support, mental health check-ups, and more. You can watch the entire discussion and learn more how Little Otter is working to change the landscape of family mental health care at the link below: https://bit.ly/3X8v7Oc

Grateful for the opportunity to talk about the youth mental health crisis at the Fortune Brainstorm Health conference with Solome Tibebu, Kristina Saffran, Zoe Tait and Alexa Mikhail. So important to highlight the unmet needs of youth, including young children. We talked about the role of digital devices in intensifying mental health challenges for kids and how technology including telehealth solutions can be part of the solution. We also highlighted that access to bad mental health care is not the answer. Scaling high-quality solutions and holding ourselves accountable to outcome-based measurements is essential. Lastly, technology has the power to create space for human connection not to be a substitute for humans. Thank you to Fortune for including me and highlighting this critical area. #mentalhealthawareness #FortuneBrainstormHealth

“Young children, I’m talking two years old, suffer from mental health disorders at the same rates as older kids and teenagers. We can identify and treat these issues, and if we identify them early, we can provide less treatment with better outcomes.” Little Otter’s Co-Founder & CEO, Rebecca Egger, recently spoke with Fitt Insider about destigmatizing mental health, headwinds facing digital health companies, and scaling direct-to-consumer and B2B channels. At Little Otter, we understand that mental health awareness is just the beginning; true change comes from sustained, collective action. This Mental Health Awareness Month, we are proud to join leaders in youth behavioral health in a year-round commitment to improving youth mental health. This year's #MentalHealthActionDay theme is, 'Dedicate One Hour to Connection,' highlights a powerful yet simple truth: feeling connected, seen, and understood by a trusted adult is crucial for supporting youth mental health. Strong relationships not only enhance youth well-being but also enable early intervention, which is essential for addressing unmet mental health needs before they escalate. We encourage everyone—youth and the caring adults in their lives—to recognize that experiencing mental health challenges is normal and seeking support is not only okay but necessary. Take a moment today to connect with a student, friend, or colleague, and don't forget to check in with yourself as well. Beyond this month and this moment, let's keep the conversation about mental health going all year long. Remember, no one has to face their struggles alone. Together, we can make a lasting difference in the lives of young people and build a brighter future for all. 💙 Read the full statement: loh.care/MHAD2024 and spread this powerful message within your community.
