Last week, we welcomed our newest Field Surveyor, Joseph Pacini! We asked some questions to learn more about him: Q: What’s your favorite thing about your profession? A: I enjoy seeing the work coming to fruition, and being able to envision the community that will inevitably be benefiting from my work. Q: What excites you most about your new position? A: I am excited to further build my knowledge of surveying with leaders who are eager to teach and see me grow. Q: What drew you to Furtado? A: I was drawn to the presence Furtado has in the Puget Sound, as well as the room for outward/upward expansion that can come in the future. Q: If you weren’t a Field Surveyor for a living, what would you be doing? A: In another life, I’d want to be a nature photographer for National Geographic and travel to cool places like the Amazon, Tanzania, and Nepal. Q: What are your hobbies outside of work? A: I love being outdoors; playing soccer, hiking, camping, and backpacking. Q: Last book you read? A: I just recently finished ‘The Committed’ by Viet Thanh Nguyen. Q: What's your last played song on Spotify? A: I currently have Zach Bryan’s new album (The Great American Bar Scene) on repeat! Excited to have Joe on our team! #welcometotheteam #welcome #newhirespotlight #fieldsurveyor

Last week, we brought on one of our newest engineering techs, Robert Martinez! We asked some questions to learn more about him: Q: What’s your favorite thing about your profession? A: I am (or try to be!) a very neat and organized person, and CAD drafting is something that drew my attention early on in my adult life as a vehicle that allows me to express that facet of me, professionally. I have worked in several sectors of the AEC industry, but everywhere I have found a way to find order in chaos while enjoying the process of drafting and bringing deliverables to life. Researching, creating and implementing better standards and design processes is ultimately the biggest expression of my professional journey. Q: What excites you most about your new position? A: The opportunity to learn more about land surveying and land management from the standpoint of a CAD drafter. I am especially excited to learn from licensed professionals and other drafting peers, further enhancing my skillset and helping me to grow professionally. Q: What drew you to Furtado? A: When I started in this thing called CAD drafting, I was working with a Land Surveyor in Spain, surveying parcels and properties, and then exporting that data into CAD back in the office. I remember those days very fondly, so the possibility to revisit and expand on that experience by working in Furtado was just too good to pass on. Q: If you weren’t an Engineering Tech for a living, what would you be doing? A: I would probably be a graphic designer of some kind, or I would be a writer, specifically novels or movie scripts. Q: What’s the last show you binged? A: Fallout (Prime Video). Q: Last book you read? A: Star Wars - The High Republic: Light of the Jedi (by Charles Soule). Yup, Star Wars geek over here! Q: What are your three favorite foods? A: Pizza, Sushi and Ramen. Excited to have you on our team, Robert! #welcometotheteam #welcome #newhirespotlight #engineeringtech #engineeringtechnician

Excited to introduce the newest Survey Manager on our team: Andy Doan! We asked some questions to learn more about him: Q: What’s your favorite thing about your profession? A: The many disciplines of Land Surveying are what I appreciate the most. Whether you look to the future or back in the history books, there is always something new to learn. Q: What excites you most about your new position? A: I have the opportunity to add value to the team through my knowledge and experience, but even greater is the opportunity to learn and grow professionally from the experience and knowledge of the team that is already in place at Furtado. Q: What drew you to Furtado? A: The people. I had conversations with different members of Furtado and was impressed by their character and professionalism.  Q: If you weren’t a Surveyor for a living, what would you be doing? A: I would work with individuals with disabilities. Q: What was your first job? A: Worked for my Dad’s landscaping business. Q: Last book you read? A: Discipline is Destiny By Ryan Holiday Q: What's your last played song on Spotify? A: Sitting on the Dock of the Bay – Otis Redding Welcome, Andy! #welcometotheteam #welcome #newhirespotlight #landsurveyor #surveymanager

Hansen Belyea helped Furtado by equipping them with a new brand that signals integrity, energy for their work, and a focus on community. We started with surveying their clients, partners and team. That data informed the development of a logo and key messaging that communicates their unique value proposition. The new logomark signifies the survey and engineering work Furtado does – the three points representing triangulation. The fourth form represents the land as well as the strong foundation of their leadership. Owner and CEO, Joshua Cheatham, PE got to work right away putting up the logo in their new office in downtown Seattle within weeks of delivery. And we’re not done with Furtado, yet! We are currently working on a website build in collaboration with their team that will further expand the brand experience.

    • Furtado logo that demonstrates the concentric circular design.
