Welcome Christine Calderon Caruso, our new Vice President of Development at LA's BEST! Christine is a dynamic relationship builder, fundraiser, storyteller, and community advocate. Her unique approach to fundraising combines tradition with innovative ideas that captivate donors, sponsors, corporations, and foundations. LA's BEST Student Daleyza showed off her math skills and amazing sportsmanship by representing the Lakers at the New York NBA Math Hoops Global Championship. She spent 4 days competing alongside 24 other students across the United States, Puerto Rico, and Australia. They visited the Liberty Science Center, attended the 2024 NBA Draft, learned about the Sports Analytics Program at Syracuse University and competed for the Global Championship inside the NBA Office. Daleyza received the Sportsmanship Award and Education Team Member, George Lee, Jr. received the Outstanding Educator Recipient Award.

Excited to share that our President & CEO, Michele Broadnax, MBA, joined Alberto Carvalho, GPSN, to celebrate the 4th annual #SummerOfJoy! This amazing free initiative provides engaging and fun programs and opportunities for at-promise students who attend primarily Title 1 schools across LA, helping to combat the “summer slide” and close the opportunity gap. Together, we’re making a difference

Enriching arts activities can help students do more than just explore their creativity! When students draw, paint, and sculpt, they also enhance their motor skills and imagination. #LAsBESTafterschool

AIM Studios is the latest programmatic venture from the Digital Learning Department. This year, nine sites partnered with Digital Learning to offer the AIM (Art In Motion) Studios program. The purpose of this initiative is to empower students to become visual storytellers through the use of technology.

Each year, we coordinate and host science fairs throughout Los Angeles. This year, participating schools enjoyed a field trip to the DISCOVERY CUBE, where students had a great time exploring science through hands-on exhibits, activities, and games.
