An enlightening article by Interior Design Magazine on West Ends Labs and Elevate Research Properties, a life-sciences subsidiary of Taconic Partners’ redevelopment of this 1920’s industrial building to a modern multi-tenant life science facility. This 400,000 sq.ft. property designed by Perkins&Will fosters collaboration and creativity through its flexible layouts and integration of advanced technology. JB&B served as the MEP/FP, low-voltage, deep carbon reduction and commissioning engineers for the robust lab-focused infrastructure already in use at the available pre-built laboratories. At Healthcare Facility Management Society of New Jersey (HFMSNJ)'s 2024 Annual Trade Show & All-Day Seminar last week, JB&B's Head of Building Intelligence and Senior Associate Mahmoud Shouman presented on "Intelligent Healthcare Facilities." During his session, Mahmoud explored the integration of advanced technologies to optimize hospital operations. He also emphasized the critical role of expertise in building intelligence processes, MEP infrastructure design, and maintaining vendor relationships. We extend our gratitude to HFMSNJ for such an insightful seminar.

In celebration of Pride Month, JB&B’s Social Awareness and Inclusion Initiative (SAII) hosted their small business in-office series in our New York office yesterday with a city favorite: Baz Bagel. Baz Bagel and Restaurant is a bagel shop and lunch counter located on historic Grand Street in New York run by Bari Musacchio and Saralyn Feinberg. Baz was inspired by their half-Jewish and half-Italian family rooted in the Lower East Side and Little Italy. As a queer-owned business, the owners have helped cultivate a home for the New York LGBTQ+ community. As Pride month draws to a close, let’s carry its spirit forward, embracing the theme of “Reflect. Empower. Unite.” Our commitment to building a community rooted in acceptance and understanding is not confined to a single month, but is woven into the very fabric of our ethos.

“As a teen I always flipped through the IKEA catalog to the lamps section, and I had taken charge of the spotlights for high school musicals. But I didn’t realize then that lighting was a whole industry unto itself. By the end of that year, I’d applied to Parsons’ double MFA degree for Interior and Lighting Design. The rest is history.,” writes Julia Strapp, LightBox Studios Senior Designer. In the latest issue of Illuminating Engineering Society’s monthly newsletter, Julia is recognized as the IESNYC’s Member of the Month and details her journey from having a passion for art and design to making her mark on the lighting industry.
