During times of crisis, we often see spikes in individual-level violence, such as gender-based #violence, intimate partner violence, and violence against children. Though protection is a key focus of #humanitarian actors, there is limited evidence on what programs and policies are actually working to prevent and reduce violence against women, adolescents, and children in conflict-affected settings. IPA’s new #PolicyBrief summarizes the existing evidence base on strategies to prevent and mitigate individual-level violence, drawing important lessons for policymakers and practitioners. The featured studies highlight how to combine programs to reduce IPV, target populations, and the importance of community networks and also highlights questions that remain unanswered. Read more to find out about the key lessons: bit.ly/hpibrief2024 IPA and Abdul Latif Jameel Poverty Action Lab (J-PAL)'s Humanitarian Protection Initiative (#HPI) aims to generate rigorous evidence to inform policies and programs that protect conflict-affected populations from harm and mitigate the effects of conflict where harm has occurred. With generous support by Department for International Development (DFID) from the UK government, HPI will foster partnerships for and fund randomized impact evaluations to inform the design of policies and programs that protect conflict-affected populations from violence, coercion, and deliberate deprivation, and ensure their dignity, safety and respect for their rights. IPA Philippines extends its gratitude to the outgoing RDC Chairperson Governor Benitez of Bacolod, Co-Chair Atty. Jobert Penaflorida of the Philippine Chamber of Commerce-Western Visayas, Vice Chairperson Regional Director Arecio Casing Jr of NEDA, and RDC Members Governors Rhodora Cadiao of Antique, Fredenil Castro, Jose Miraflores of Aklan, and Arthur Defensor Jr. of Iloilo for their support of the #PSPS. In Zambia, 35% of children under five suffer from stunting, impacting their growth and development. Innovations for Poverty Action (IPA) recently held a study to evaluate the impact of growth charts and Small Quantity Lipid-Based Nutrient Supplements (SQ-LNS) on child growth. Studies show: 🔬 Small-quantity lipid-based nutrient supplements (SQ-LNS) can significantly boost child growth. SQ-LNS could reduce stunting by 37% and anemia by 26%. 📊 Home-based growth charts help parents track children's development, growth charts offered some benefits but were less effective. SQ-LNS is ready-to-eat food-based supplements that provide energy, protein, fats, and micronutrients - can significantly improve child growth, nutrition, and development outcomes. 🤝 Your support will fuel IPA’s mission to use evidence-based research to drive impactful solutions: https://bit.ly/AUSEOY_ipa
