My father Urban Hirsch III was brought into the ink business by his stepfather Mel Pfaelzer. Mel operated the predecessor to Ink Systems, Bowers Printing Ink in Chicago. He worked in the printing industry from 1936 to 1975 (the year I was born). Mel was considered an icon in the industry for his innovative approach to service, a torch we at Ink Systems carry to this day.
