Check out our recent analysis on recreational boating safety from the IEc team of Webster Batista-Lin, Megan Sheahan, and Jennifer Baxter.
In collaboration with the U.S. Coast Guard, the American Boat and Yacht Council (ABYC) has leveraged the expertise of ITA International and Industrial Economics, Incorporated (IEc) in a groundbreaking analysis on recreational boating safety. This research highlights that adherence to ABYC standards can significantly reduce the likelihood of boating accidents and their severity. ITA International played a key role in this crucial analysis, contributing to safer boating practices. Boats certified to ABYC standards show a remarkable reduction in accident likelihood by 43%-47% and fatalities by 26%-58% in the event of an accident. This analysis, underpinned by data from the Boating Accident Report Database and NMMA certification compliance, was showcased at the USCG/ABYC Risk Mitigation webinar "Don’t Be a Statistic. Data Saves Lives." For more detailed insights, read the full IEc memo: https://lnkd.in/ejzyGZvs. #SecureStableSustainable #inTheArena #BoatSafety #ITAisHiring #HiringOurHeroes #USCG

Maura Flight, Megan Sheahan, Christine Lee and other IEc staff identified and measured multiple ecosystem service endpoints – such as recreational opportunities, food and minerals production, water conservation, and human health benefits –generated by projects funded by California Climate Investments (CCI). The resulting report evaluates the ways in which over 7,800 CCI projects have contributed to healthy, functioning ecosystems and human well-being beyond reducing atmospheric GHG concentrations, with a particular emphasis on CCI investments in natural and working lands.
